Jewell Williams replacement

Who is going to replace Jewell Williams in his PA House district in North Philly now that he will be sheriff? What is the process for replacement?

Special election.

The D and R party structures nominate a candidate (and independents can gather signatures). Special election will likely be February... IF Jewell actually resigns. There is no law he has to (he likely will though).

Yeah, there's definitely a committeeperson already planning to run under the D ticket. I was going to say but then it doesn't look like it's been officially announced yet.

For a long time, Gary Williams, the ward leader, told me he was interested, but recently I heard he was asked to switch to another area.

I'm hearing at least 3 people running for the position.... one is connected to Jewel Williams (maybe his niece); the others and two guys I know well... this will be interesting.

I assume you are talking about the primary for the regular election?

Rumor is that Jewell set up the newly-drawn district to make it favorable for his daughter. Her name is Jewel, too.
