This place is an unmitigated disaster - a "$2.4 billion nightclub":
Revel's growing peril
Sandy leaves Revel casino reeling

Hurricane Sandy left its mark on November gaming revenue at all 12 Atlantic City casinos. But none took a more debilitating hit than Revel, which has been burning through cash at an alarming rate and which generated just $6.2 million from gamblers last month.

"Struggling to find its footing among Atlantic City's seaside gambling community, the under-performing Revel casino has just received a $150 million cash infusion to help keep in going."

Meanwhile another poorly performing AC casino is going all parrot heads all the time. The repositioning to be unveiled for the Memorial Day weekend may at least temporarily draw potential patrons away from Revel.

Wow didnt even last a year
NJ's newest casino, Revel, to file for bankruptcy
The voluntary, prepackaged bankruptcy envisioned for late March will wipe away about two-thirds of its $1.5 billion in debt by converting more than $1 billion of it into equity for lenders.

AC is done .. to much competition in the Nth East
Its a shame but anyone remember when AC was the only place to gamble, when I first started? Wow it was popular. I remember reading stories how AC has actually put a large hurt on Las Vegas. Crazy cause now AC now is barely staying alive.
The big question now is whether this Chapter 11 will allow Revel to become profitable. It seems possible, if not likely, since now their debt service costs will be only a third of what they were.

Seems like everything was wrong with it from the jump. Personally I think they aimed too high, thinking they were competing with Vegas & destination resorts. Really they were competing with Borgata & in the process failed at that. They should've priced themselves accordingly to Borgata, rather than expect people to pay a higher price for a less known commodity. It'd be like opening a ski slope in the Poconos & thinking your competing with Vermont or out West instead of Camelback & Blue Mountain.

Good luck with that.

Revel currently has a terrible billboard on 95. "A shore winner". Jesus, could they have picked a more tired or trite slogan? No wonder they are bankrupt.
Speaking of bad AC billboards, has anyone noticed the one over I-676 saying "You're going the wrong way" with the DO A/C logo? The billboard might make sense if it were facing westbound traffic but, um, it is facing the eastbound (shore-bound) traffic.
I'd really like to know what moron marketing exec. bought that location.
Haha nice Shosh.
I did an overnight stay at Revel 2 weekends ago. The facility is amazing - it looks better than almost anything I've seen in Vegas and I've stayed ay Wynn, Encore, Bellagio, Palazzo, Venetian, Vdara, Cosmopolitan (Rivera and Harrahs too - haha)
The main issues I saw:
1. Crappy part of town - not sure this hurts, but it doesn't help. The north view is amazing (looking to Brigantine and beyond) and depressing (when you look down) at the same time. AC really does suck - it's a run down **** hole that looks/feels shady at any hour. I hate Vegas too, but the 'Strip' is well maintained/lit and so busy that you never feel unsafe even at 3-4 in the AM. AC doesn't have a strip - it has the Boardwalk that gets really shady at times.
2. What do you do other than gamble or hang at the clubs? On Friday night at 1130, their Burlesque bar was so sad I should have taken a pic. No one at the bar, but there were hot 1/2 naked chicks walking on it. WTF? Ovation Hall is really nice, but the event schedule is weak. I know they had some big names there, but I think they should have more events so guests have more to do. Also, they have a comedy show - on Thursday nights only. WTF? The pool and spa are amazing, but they are for overnight guests.
3. Very light crowds. Everyone we talked to commented on this - then they mentioned the bankruptcy. Give us more of a reason to go. Borgata is freakin packed at all times - that is fun.
Revel shot too high. They place is SO fancy, I doubt they will ever get enough people through there to flourish. On a much smaller scale, look at the Pier - that place is really cool, but shops have been closing up left and right. If they are trying to hook the high end crowd they should have more entertainment options than the other places.
On a positive note, we had a 5 min wait at Village Whiskey - that was awesome. The food tastes the same too![]()
