don't know but they have not sold the place over the winter so that means they are back for another season!
I know, right?! With the housing market the way it is, there is NOBODY buying the property any time soon! I remember years past when it was always rumored to have been sold, but it opened back up year after year. No doubt my favorite place in Wildwood. The food outside is just ok to below average but the atmosphere on the deck area is second to none! The inside dining menu is very good, though! That place is a gold mine forthe owners!!!
yeah i like this place too. they have a killer early bird special
Just wondering why the food outside would be different in quality for the food served inside this restaurant. Isn't the food coming out of the same kitchen??
The Inside Restuarant has finer fare and the outside deck has just sandwiches and the like. Literally two seperate experiences (and menus) altogether. In my opinion they focus more time and energy on the inside menu, given that the outside deck, because of location, live music and atmoshere, draws a crowd regardless. Honestly the outside menu isn't bad at all, just not as good as inside. Got it jaggie?

Outside is bar food - nothing different then your regular chicken fingers, sandwiches, fries, mozzarella sticks, etc. Inside has a full dinner menu and well prepared, presented and tasty. The Wharf has it all - come by boat and tie up at the dock if you like, plenty of live entertainment, new inside bar and plenty of free parking. On the water so its nice to sit outside with a cold one listening to your favorite band (mine is the Julianno Bros).
We went there Memorial day weekend and they changed the inside dining area and menu. It is now call "Captain's Cove" and the menu is less steak/seafood and more sandwich oriented. They redid the inside too, especially the bar area, which is VERY nice now (flat screen TV's). The outside deck is still the best place in all of south jersey to enjoy a cold beer, relax and listen to live music!
Oh Yeah, I like Sindi Raymond Band!!
we gotta try the Wharf this summer!
If you are able to, try and get there for the happy hour 3pm to 6pm (everyday). Drink specials and live music. The only concern is that on holiday weekend afternoons it can get to be too crowded on the deck area, which is why I think they changed over the inside. With the new wooden bar and flat screen TV's, I think the thinking was to steer people inside to the bar when the deck gets crowded. Before when it was crowded, people would just leave because the inside, although it had a small bar, was geared towards dining. Now the focus is on the bar.
im liking this place more and more. Wished they had a more extensive menu for dinner with the family tho.

Been going there for about nine years. Their food is amazing. I only ate in the dining room twice. All the food is great, though.
I liked the old menu -- their yellowfin tuna was terrific as were the steaks. I agree, they are moving away from a restaurant to more of a bar/deck type place which is ok with me too. You are right, people go for the atmosphere, the bands and to sit outside and look at the water. I do, however, really like the new inside bar - sometimes its just too hot outside and that's a nice alternative.
The Wharf is open for the 2011 season way early. The place looks brand new. Went there last weekend and it was packed inside and out.
I heard the food and menu are much different. It is being run by a former general manager of a Chickie and Pete's... THe family the used to run it in years past supposedly had the rent raised by the propert owner and refused to pay the increase. It really is kind of a shame because they were really nice people. Pretty much all the staff there were either related or a family friend. My parents went a few weekends ago and raved about the food quality (though they said it was a tad expensive). The service, however, was pretty subpar, but I think the new management will be working out the kinks soon. I can't wait to check it out in a few weeks when we head down!!
Another place I have grown to like is "The Icehouse" (right on Park Blvd. where the old Russo's Restuarant used to be!! Anybody ever check that place out? Celan, never too crowded. Nice outside bar, which is pretty cool because it is on the second story and actually offers a pretty cool view!!
Well, we finally went to the Wharf and the word that best described my experience is DISGUSTING... We (my wife and two young children ages 7 and 5) walked in at around 4pm Saturday afternoon and within seconds were greeted by the Syndi Raymond Bands' expletive laced rendition of a pretty popular song. The radio version contains the lyrics "forget you", while the album version that the Syndi Raymond band chose to use reads "F*** you". These words appear OVER and OVER in the song. She also chose to "flip the bird" each and everytime she sang the lyric. In an another song she completely added the word "boner" for no other reason than to just say the word boner. She also had an older stripper looking woman on stage with her who bent over to shake her fat old ass. This all happened in the first, and only, five minutes we were there. As this was going on I counted no less than 30 children under the age of 12 in the establishment.
I have been frequenting the Wharf for happy hour for MANY years now and have sung the establishments praises to anybody who would listen and posted much in the way of positive feedback on this, as well as other, message boards and blogs. Had I been there with my children and wife after 10pm and heard this kind of language and saw this kind of behavior, shame on me. Given that it was 4pm and that the Wharf had traditionally been a very family oriented establishment, shame on the Wharf and Syndi Raymond. I have actually seen the Syndi Raymond Band at the Wharf in years past and never saw such behavior. I mean she is a bit odd and maybe a little "out there", but always in a good way. Her performance the other day was downright disgusting and, considering the clientele, inappropriate.
Needless to say, after a few minutes and trying to choke down a piss warm beer, we left. We didn't even look at the menu. I honestly do not think I'll be back.

sad.. You had history there too bud.. We went last July and the Sindi Raymond band did the exact same deal when they sang.. Luckily our Son is older and it was no big deal but if he was your kids age I would have left too

Really sorry to hear that. I’ve seen that band a bunch of times with no kid in tow but Sindi needs to recognize her audience for sure. Dropping an F bomb at the end of the night is one thing but screaming it over and over again at 4pm, is ridiculous.
We were going to go at about the same time you went but we were spent from being on the beach all day that we skipped. I was thinking about running over there myself just to see the changes but that also fell off the plate.
I know the band ruined it for you but as a frequenter myself who hasn’t been there this season, any other thoughts?
To your previous mention of the Ice House, we really enjoy that place whether for drinks or for dinner. The roof patio and the Mediterranean feel are great. We watched a few of World Cup games there last year and had a blast.
