Do you know anything about that region? No, you don't.

You don't have to justify what's going on over there in order to understand the genesis of that mentality.

well ok...didn't goe to Cairo ...but Zimbabwe/Ghana/Ivory Coast/Senegambia and so on...

Islam is a very fanatic religion , actually I remember that in Ghana I wanted to cross a market and the local guy insisted that I have to wait until the prayer of an Islam priest was finished and he hold me back (physically) until he finished the prayer ...out of respect of course I waited ..

The "film" is the spark point only in that people have been told "an American film portrays Muahammaed as an incest-committing, murderous, rapist psychopath" and not having actually seen it they assume its some sort of big budget, high production value Hollywood production, not an awful no-budget amature production by some Egyptian-American Coptic Christian with mental health issues.

There are imams and fundamentalists who like to portray the world as a "Clash of civiilzations" between the West and their selective vision of "true Islam".

The biggest problem however is really the idiots here who would then use that as an excuse to listen to the American yahoos here who preach the world as "clash of civilizations" to justify shoving their "true Christianity" down the rest of our throats. Or the 21st Century Neville Chamberlains who preach acting like ostrichs, sticking our heads in the sand, ending a strategic program of diplomatic and cultural engagement with 1/4 of the world's population. Its not just naive to pretend you can selectively break off all diplomatic contact with the 25% of the world that follows some form of the Islamic faith, its also a guarantee that the most extreme and hateful variants of Islam will increase their influence throughout the Islamic world and eventually be able to strike here again like they did on 9/11. Safety comes from continued smart, sober diplomatic engagement with the governments of countries in the Islamic world and from building intelligence on-the-ground to monitor the activity of the most extreme elements. That kind of engagement is the opposite of military interventionism because it is preeemptive, but it is also the opposite of "stick our collective head in the ground and pretend 1/4 of the world's population doesn't exist".

This video is exactly what Ax and the media want it to be. It is being used to distract the American people (which isn't working) from all the wonderful news last week

    1) America's credit was downgraded
    2) The Libyans who attacked our embassy received arms from Obama
    3) Uncle Ben just told us he will print unlimited amts of money b/ BamBam lied and there is no recovery
    4) Gas prices are the highest ever in Sept and it isn't b/ of demand but the devaluation of our currency
    5) Joblessness
    6) etc, etc ...

How has diplomatic and 'cultural' engagement worked so far?

And where did I say break off diplomatic contact with 25% of the world? (I am not saying this is a bad or good but you are lying about what I said)

Wait... so the Arab world riots for no good reason and the biggest problem is somebody want to justify shoving "true Christianity" down one's throats?

I would have thought the biggest problem was a weak-kneed administration who isn't defending freedom of speech, supported an Egyptian transition that resulted in the Muslim Brotherhood coming to power, and a press who has put the life of someone who exercised said right in danger by revealing their name and location to a bunch of fanatical muslims.

But then again, I'm a small minded conservative so what do I know.
