I'm guessing it goes down 5-4 but who knows I guess.
Anyone have any bets on what they've decided?
Mandate upheld per @SCOTUSblog..
Will SCOTUS reveal itself to be Ms. Palin's much ballyhooed "death panel"?
Mandate struck down per cnn.com... ETA: corrected to say whole act upheld

Upheld per MSNBC.. ETA now saying "may be upheld"
CNN TV is reporting that the entire ACA is upheld by way of congress tax provisions, not commerce clause.
@SCOTUSblog saying Roberts was the 5th vote to uphold.
LOL, now they are saying partly upheld, partly struck down. This is too funny. I'm thinking they should STFU, read the inch and half thick decision and then report!
Looks like they consider the mandate a tax: http://blog.chron.com/txpotomac/2012...e-court-rules/
suprememe court just upheld it.

SCOTUSblog gives the impression it's 5-4 in favor of the mandate, with Roberts' being the saving vote. Interesting.
SCOTUS just gave our federal government unlimited power. Sweet.

I believe this is the decision but site is jammed..
so the question is....what is the federal government going to force you to buy next???

Love the smell of hyperbole in the morning..
Haven't been able to get to the decision yet but I would think that the Court would strike down a tax that is clearly structured to be a ban when such a ban would otherwise be unconstitutional. Furthermore the taxing power used in ACA is not being used in that manner so it seems to be a stretch to say that this decision would enable what you describe (again, haven't been able to get to the actual decision, this is obviously speculation)
