So far stil very little info on this story, but someone did find this:

    CHILD CARE RULE .0901
    Food From Home
When children bring their own food for meals or snacks to the center, if the food does not meet the nutritional requirements outlined in the Meal Patterns for Children in Child Care, the center must provide additional food necessary to meet those requirements.
This came from the North Carolina Child Care Center Handbook, which Im reading now and it has a lot of interesting gems like this :

If parents supply the meals and snacks on a regular basis, it is advised to inform them of the nutritional standards the center is required to meet, and even supply them with a copy of the Meal Patterns for Children in Child Care form.

Lunches and meals brought from home must be dated and identified for the appropriate child at the child’s home and must be returned to the child’s home or discarded at the end of each day.

Foods should be stored at an appropriate temperature until eaten.

The center must have additional food available to supplement the meals and snacks brought from home that do not meet the nutritional requirements.

Child care programs are encouraged to develop policies about food brought from home. Parents should be given a copy of the policies when they enroll their child in the program.
When food is sent from a child's home and it will only be served to that child, there are no restrictions on the source. However, if food is prepared and sent from home to be shared with other children, the food must be limited to nonpotentially hazardous baked goods. This allows parents to bring in baked goods to celebrate birthdays but make sure you are aware of the ingredients used if children are on a special diet or have allergies.

If you have questions or concerns about the type of baked good a parent is requesting to bring in contact your local health department.
    CHILD CARE RULE .0901
    Requirements for Drinking Water

Drinking water must be freely available to children of all ages and offered at frequent intervals.

Approved drinking fountains or individual drinking utensils must be provided.

When a private water supply is used, it must be tested by and meet the requirements of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
They are strict with their day care rules. But this shows that "The government" agent in this story is a state thing in NC, not a federal thing.

But then again, nobody has ever heard of an agent or state inspecter before this story.

This has nothing to do with conspiracy because no man knows all of each industry. Large corporations gain influence via donations and lobbyists and construct legislation and regulation that take away our freedoms and liberties. Even though I may have access to some that the normal everyday citizen doesn’t, it is common knowledge amongst most that are politically engaged and do not get all their news from ABC, NBC, CBS, and the Big three in cable.

I don’t think you understand what I am saying. Odds are whoever the schools are purchasing these nuggets from across the country, it is from a one of the larger food service providers like a Sysco, US Foods, Reinhert, etc. The bottom line is the bottom line and these food service corps aren’t buying from the local organic ‘nugget’ farm/processor. They are purchasing in large bulk, lowest price, the lowest quality processed crap, from either Tyson or Perdue.

I am not accusing the two corps of doing anything shady at the local level (even tho I wouldn’t put it pass either of them ie: Coke & Pepsi in the school systems). They are writing the legislation and regulation for the U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines which the LOCAL jack booted thugs are ENFORCING when they dramatized the 4 year old girl.

Parents want to make sure their kids are safe in Child care programs while they work, it can get crazy like this when people care about their kids.

Good, that's better..but still, there is no proof of these "LOCAL jack booted thugs" exist outside of the newspaper who printed this story, which is published by the John Locke Foundation, a free-market, limited government think tank.

So they are kinda known for whipping up the paranoid bunch.

Here is a link from a non free market, non-limited government publication, and there are more. The newspaper that I originally linked was just the first to report it.

What if a family decides to be vegan or vegetarian?

Are the government agents going to force their children to eat meat and dairy, against their will? Don’t people have the right to eat what they want or don’t want. Surely omitting meat from your diet and getting protein elsewhere is healthier than eating the processed meat/poultry and other crap the school provides.

Again, its the same story, just retold. No one even proved that "The agent was inspecting the entire class' lunch boxes that day." I WANT NAMES! He isn't a student, so I don't think that he's protected. Is it THAT hard for these bloggers to do their journalistic job?

From what I read, that is ok. Since this is about NC, lets stick with NC rules:

    CHILD CARE RULE .0901
Children with Special Diets or Food Allergies
 Children's special diets or food allergies must be posted in the food preparation area and in the child’s eating area.
 The food required by special diets may be provided by the center or may be brought to the center by the parents.
 If the diet is prescribed by a health care professional, a statement signed by the health care professional shall be on file at the center and written instructions shall be provided by the child's parent, health care professional, or a registered dietitian.
 If the diet is not prescribed by a health care professional, written instructions must be provided by the child’s parent and be on file at the center.
So being vegan or vegetarian is OK(Even tho, a child at that age it is very dangerous to be vegan, especially if the parents don't know all the risk).

Again, this story makes NO SENSE because the girl only ate THREE NUGGETS. Now think abotu that for a second, where does that make sense that her eating three nuggets is ok with "U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines".

IT doesn't. I get the bigger picture debate you want here, but don't use this story..it just doesn't make sense. "THE GOVERNMENT FORCES A GIRL NOT TO EAT HER LUNCH FOR THREE NUGGETS"

    What?

Come on. The Amish milk one sounds a little more interesting...But drop this horrible one sided story.

hehehe... that meal is still a lot healthier than what our kids get!

I understand the frustration, but they didn't say the student couldn't blog-they said she couldn't have her camera in school. Although their motives are questionable, I can understand it since electronic devices are a nuisance in the modern era of schools.
