    Default Unemployment rates

Just thought I would start a new thread on unemployment. Downer topic, I know. But there is so much info on it from all sorts of angles and sources. Perhaps this could be a thread for it all.

I will start out with giving you a link to a moving graphic that shows nationwide unemployment rate by county on a map, with color-coded areas that change month-to-month. The darker the color gets, the more unemployment you can actually see on the map. It starts of in the middle of 2007, and the change is readily apparent.

Anyone still believe this recession is a liberal fantasy?

And I assume that farm laborers still don't get counted as "unemployed", which is why the middle of the country doesn't get as dark as the rest.

the middle doesn't get as dark because a lot of it also has new oil and gas exploration, production, and processing industries. North Dakota has the lowest rate even now, partly due to the Bakken Shale oil and gas production...that industry creates a lot of jobs. Chesepeake Energy has created around 2000 jobs in the past year, average pay of $60,000. The CEO was on Cramer's Mad Money last night.
