Kelly O Day shows how too much building over the Wingohocking upstream in East Mt Airy can lead to flooding downstream. My house is 4 feet from that new project. Water was springing up all over when it was being built. The long buried creek filled a pool of water and kept flowing but now it's all asphalted over and has no place to go.
Mr O Day relates this area in East Mt Airy to the Germantown flood last year.
Stay safe and tell City Planning to stop building on top of the Wingohocking. When I called the Water Department about all the water filling up around my house, they said the plans submitted never showed the creek even though most everyone had know the creek was there and I had obtained creek maps years before from the Water Department. They should have check their own records in the Aramak building where I got my copies of the creek. I was concerned about flooding and told the City over and over. They didn't listen to me , but maybe others are interested in prevented such mistakes and will let the city know they need to Plan with safety in mind, especially along the Wingohocking.
