I love arguments on the internet. Especially when people tell me not to have a problem with something I have a problem with.

I don't think this is an arguement as much as a range of responses to the sidewalk being closed.
No one is going to change how you feel about it. But others are free to feel or react to the problem differently. In any case, the building is almost complete and the problem will go away. Hopefully the benefits of the building will offset the inconvenience with which you have stuggled.

In all fairness it's crappy to close the sidewalk for the duration of a construction project. I can see closing it when work is being done, but the closure should only be for a limited period of time. I have seen jobs over and over again (especially in Center City) where the sidewalk is closed, and workers park their trucks there, essentially using the sidewalk as private off-street parking for the duration of the building's construction. That really bothers me. Again, though, if the sidewalk is closed so that work can be done at that location, then so be it - curbs need to be replaced, footways poured, walls built, etc. However, that work needs to be effected continually so that the sidewalk can be reopened with all speed, and as soon as the work is done at that particular location the sidewalk should be reopened, not when the entire construction project is 100% done (i.e. the interior work; as soon as the exterior work is finished the fences really should come down). One year seems really excessive, if it's really been one year. If you figure that places need to be entirely rebuilt every 80 years or so and that that construction takes about a year to get done (neither assumption is far from the mark), then by that logic then at all times one out of 80 stretches of sidewalk would be closed if all jobs were run like this one. That would be mightily unneighborly.

Thanks Billy, yes, that is my point.
Only in Philly can you get attacked walking down the street, and attacked for wanting to walk down a street.
I took a drive by there today and I'm curious if anyone knows what material is being used on the gravers lane side of the building what looks to be chocolate covered siding? I only call it siding because I'm unsure what it would be referred to as. I must say, if this is snowden's mansion, this place definitely looks awesome!
Consider yourself fortunate you don't live near a Bowman's building and a closed sidewalk is the only issue. I lived next to a Bowman's building for a while and was once woken up by construction noises at 615am (!), and then a loud beeping forklift. At the time I worked nights until 3am so very annoying to be woken at that hour. I called the non-emergency police number to report it and they actually send a cop out almost immediately who said that construction can't occur before 7am. I never heard construction that early again but they were still pretty loud each morning by 7am, which I thought was ridiculous but it's allowed by law. Another time I had to evacuate because the Bowman's building next door was on fire.
Has anyone heard a completion date or what commercial tenant will be on the ground level?

i just looked at their website and got very excited. I love interesting olive oil/vinegar pairings. i do wish they had an espresso vinegar though, blood orange olive oil and espresso balsamic is my favorite mix for chicken.
edited to say: spoke to soon. found the espresso vinegar. my mom will be pleased that she doesn't have to bring me bottles from florida anymore!
