What do you call someone from Germantown?
Germantowner?
Germantownian?
Germantownie? (I really hope not)
Also, if you could provide a reference, that would be great. Thanks.

Wow, this thread made me realize I've never heard anyone use a demonym for someone from Germantown.
I'm not from Germantown. But if I were, I would have absolutely no objection to people calling me "Kraut."

Well, some of the ones who I know go by: Pat, Mary, Bill, Bob and Alex. There are plenty of others if you want to know what they go by.

Aside from Kenzos, I don't recall there existing any demonyms for residents of ANY neighborhood in Philly.
Is there any pressing reason Germantown residents need one?

FWIW, I have heard people use the phrase "Queen Villager", "Powelton Villager" but thats such an easy one.
When I lived in Fishtown I was a Fishtowner...if anyone who wasn't born in Fishtown can ever be a Fishtowner. Alas, I guess Germantowner is what I would use.

I was thinking this, too, since I had at least heard "Fishtowner" used before, possibly incorrectly, I don't know. But at least used.
Then I started thinking about the whole "-tonian" thing. Now I'm not sure. Wikipedia will help, right?

The consensus seems to be that generally, for smaller places, -tonian or towner are used interchangeably. It seems that there are few, if any, major world cities besides Cape Town that end with "town", but googling "Cape Towner" yields tons of results, too, so it's clearly not hard and fast.
I guess that's the answer, but I'll admit I can't let this one go for some reason. It just seems like something that I should I have heard before, but I don't think I have. How has no one else?
