Question Need reccommendation for drain cleaning service

We are looking for a recommendation for a reputable drain cleaning service. Our main drain backs up every few months. We usually can get it cleared after renting and using a power snake. However we are hoping that someone can really diagnose the problem and make a permanent fix.

Interestingly, we never had the problem before the city switched the sewer lines a few years ago.

    Thanks for any sugggestions.

Given what a drain does, I doubt you can get a permanent solution. That aside, we used Personal Plumbing & Drain Cleaning - 215-806-4501 - and were very satisfied with their timely response to my phone message, the work itself, their patience explaining the drainage system to me, and the price.
Normally, I'd recommend you look on Yelp http://www.yelp.com/philadelphia, and it might be a viable option for what you're looking for. But recently my wife and I have seen some pretty dramatic instances of emphatically negative reviews being "filtered" (i.e., still posted, but relegated to a page accessible only by a somewhat obscure link). Has any one else observed this? If you want an example, go to Yelp and search for reviews of Lertak Building Sustainment. Currently (7:50am Jan 23) there are two very negative reviews - look after the second review and you'll see a link - look carefully - named (38 filtered).

Yelp has been accused and some businesses have said that if they pay a fee of a couple hundred dollars, all negative reviews will disappear or be put at the bottom of the list where no one looks.

The only "permanent" solution is to replace or line your existing sewer pipe.

Bob Hughes - 215-342-5411 - priced right, arrives on time, doesn't sell you services you don't need.

I've had two good experiences with Roto-Rooter. Prompt and effective service, plus reasonable cost.

Kinda hard to "unplug" a sewer line spammer.

Do you have trees nearby that could be growing roots into the line? It might be a terra cotta line.
Copper sulfate is supposed to help kill the roots. The line might have a belly in it ( portion that sunk lower)

I'd call around to get it video scanned/ scoped. Roto rooter provides the service when you get the drain cleaned.
They are expensive though and if you don't have any sewer main cleanouts they'll charge extra to remove the toilet.

Haha you must work them. I never heard anybody say they were reasonable. They generally charge twice as much!

Ditto. I had them do some work, then asked how much it was. Bad idea. It was, indeed, about double what most of the locals charge. Then they gave different prices for longer guarantees. To be fair, I never asked the people I normally use what their guarantee is, but even if they don't provide one, I'll be it's more cost-effective in the long run to use them.

Upto that, I have no experience with the drain cleaning services. I heard some of the companies offer various kinds of drain cleaning services to clear up stoppages in the Kitchen, Bathroom, Laundry room, Basement drains etc., Where can we find best and professional's for drain cleaning?
