Default Horse Rides Through the Park

For someone without a horse, any suggestions on how to do this?

You mean to tell me you don't have a horse?! Pshaw. Peasant.

But you might want to check out the Philadelphia Saddle club in the Wissahickon section of Fairmount. They ride out of Monastery Stables - Horse boarding in Philadelphia and say "Monastery has long been home to the Philadelphia Saddle Club, offering riders with some experience a cooperative alternative to individual horse ownership. "

    Good luck!

Default Duck walks into a bar

Barrie Hayman's duck is quackers about her master | Mail Online

Sorry, I'd just read this article then saw your thread title and thought it was another lead-in to a joke.

    I've got nothing.

are you looking to take riding lessons on a somewhat regular basis, or are you just interested in taking a trail ride as a one time thing?

One time thing. I was actually thinking of my childhood where my dad put me and my sister in the car and drove us to Frankford and Solley in Pennypack, he paid $10 and we got to use the horse for an hour. I assume they don't do that anymore, but that would be ideal.

None of the Philadelphia/Fairmount park area stables offer trail rides through the park to the public. Not only is liability insurance for this type of operation through the roof, most of the stables only really operate as boarding and/or lesson facilities. As someone above mentioned, you could join the Philadelphia Saddle Club @ Monastery, or half-lease/shareboard at another one of the stables but even then you'd need to be at least a somewhat intermediate rider. You could also opt to take regular lessons, and most likely after a while they'd take you on a trail ride.

I don't know too much about any of the stables in the Fox Chase/Pennypack area - but I don't think there are any functioning as trail riding barns for the public either. Your best bet would be to travel outside of the city limits. I'm pretty sure there is a barn that offers trail rides through Tyler State Park, one in Collegeville through Evansburg (Red Buffalo Ranch I think it is called) and there is one somewhere in the Brandywine area too.

    Hope this helps. Happy Trails!
