    Default Robbery on Penn street

Yesterday afternoon while walking home from school, a neighborhood child was robbed of her cell phone at knifepoint. this occurred on PennStreet in the vicinity of McMichael St. the perpetrators got out of a vehicle and while waving a knife demanded the youngster give up her cell phone. she gave it to the guy and ran off. Those are all the details available so far.

My understanding is that he was standing on the corner as she walked past, then he followed her. She had thought he was waiting for the bus. He threw her phone away, but kept the iPod, which is what he evidently wanted. Of course she and her family are extremely freaked out about it. There were multiple witnesses who scared the guy away after she screamed for help, and they got a good description as he jumped into a car, from what I know. There is concern that this may be a repeat offender. Philly U, GFS, and Penn Charter are very concerned about their students and are trying to coordinate with the police as well as inform students and parents. I wish I had a better description of the perp, but he is young and black. I believe that the knife was pretty close to her, as opposed to being waved around. This is scary stuff - she is my daughter's friend, and my Wife's friend's daughter.

Thank goodness the young lady wasn't hurt physically but her poor psyche won't be the same.

Just put on the Roxborough Review page:

Safety alert in East Falls after child robbed at knifepoint - Roxborough Review - Montgomery News

Parents and students are urged to be on heightened alert for loiterers who may be posing as bus patrons and may be casing interections for robbery victims, reports East Falls Town Watch.

Just such an incident occurred last week on Sept. 25 at around 4:30 p.m., when a 12-year-old girl on her way home from school was followed on foot to the 3200 block of W. Penn St., where she was robbed of her iPod at knifepoint.

Seriously, who robs a 12 year old kid? Scum bags. If caught, I doubt they will be treated nicely in jail. Oh well.

What does that East Falls Town Watch do anyway other than hold meetings and receive funding from the EFCC? Perhaps they should deploy some of their members to offer their presence for children walking home, or on these corners, a la guardian angels.

It would be preferable if someone armed watched this happen and shoots the mother****er.

If we lived in an ideal world. Technically speaking, if someone saw an adult accosting a child on the street, it would be reasonable to assume that the child's life was in danger, or that they were in danger of having their person violated, any half decent attorney would get them off on the various Castle Doctrine laws.
