Falls Taproom / Disgusting.. Flies Mice Etc..

I am posting here to inform the public of East Falls or anyone who goes there of the disgusting nature of the Falls Taproom. The past three health inspections, all under current owner Marvin Graaf, have had heinous things to say about the place.
You can look up their health inspections on the philadelphia .gov site if you want. Phila.Gov | Public Health just click the 'food safety inspection reports' link, search "Falls Taproom" and prepare to be mortified.

Here are some of my favorite parts of the last three inspections. (there werent more readily available)
*Food residue observed on not-in-use knives. -Owner thought he could reuse knives without cleaning/sanitizing.
^that one had me laughing for a while.. a restaurant owner that thinks cleaning knives isn't necessary.

*Foods not protected from contamination: uncovered foods in refrigeration units, mouse feces in walk-in box, flies hovering over food, ice maker door missing.

*Visible physical evidence of rodent (mouse) / insect (flies; severe) activity observed throughout establishment. Management closed establishment while Saniatarian wrote report and killed numerous flies and sanitized surfaces.

The words: flies, mice/mouse, and feces, appear in the last three inspections a combined total of 24 times, but according to the owner, having been shut down 0 times is a more important statistic. ALL these health violations occurred under current management/ownership Marvin Graaf.

There were a decent # of flies last time I went, I think an improvement can be made in that dept. otherwise, the place seems to be getting more and more popular - very nice crowds are visible every time I pass.

Not that I agree with his hating on a decent place to eat, but i will note that someone else on beer advocate also mentioned mice.

I didn't see any mice or flies when I was there a few weeks ago, but the place wasn't particularly clean either. I'm fairly adventurous when it comes to eating so I would have probably ordered something if I hadn't just come from In Riva. But my FIL, whom I was drinking with, did mention something after we left about the kitchen looking pretty sketchy. One of the bathrooms was closed, and the other wasn't clean and had no towels. Not terrible for a bar, but not comforting for a restaurant.

I was very impressed with the beer selection (and believe me when I say I do not impress easily when it comes to beer,) and the bartender's knowledge of the beers was top notch. He was more of a sommelier than a bartender, and I mean that in a very good way. I will very definitely be going back, but not for dinner.

To those saying this is something personal.. It is personal. I ate at this restaurant multiple times and take it personally when someone KNOWINGLY feeds me FECES. How else can years of health violations and neglect be construed? I posted to this and others sites when the owner accused me of lying (when proof is in inspection reports and reviews) and threatened to sue me. Anyone who would defend this place is either lying or lying to themselves. The owner is acting like they know who I am in order to diffuse the truths I have brought to light about their facility.

That's curious. Did you see them knowingly put the feces in to your food? Personally, that would be it for me, but you ate there multiple times. I can only deduce from the above statement that you, in fact, enjoy eating feces.

How do you know the owners name? I generally don't know the name of the owner or manager of any restaurant I frequent. Why did you decide to register and post about all of this yesterday out of the blue?

The owners name is on the inspection reports. The owners name is also readily available to anyone who knows how to use google. http://www.newsworks.org/index.php/l...alls-bike-race - An article which says who the owner is and exactly how long he has owned it. I'm not surprised you couldnt figure that out though, for a person who could think someone would enjoy the taste of feces, knowing how to use google would be tough. Why is any day better than another to point out blatant and horrendous health violations? This started out as a yelp review, but when the owner decided to accuse me of lying (despite having plenty of proof) and threaten with a law suit I decided that the knowledge needed to be spread further, as anyone who replies to pointing out health violations by saying its not true needs to be known to everyone. That type of flagrant lack of care for the truth and health of their customers should not be allowed, and I certainly wont be quiet about it. Unless you have some proof of the cleanliness of this restaurant you are adding nothing, and only proving my point.

I hardly see that as a one person smear campaign. I have not said anything that wasn't already proven by other reviews and health inspections.
No wait your right.. this is a one person smear campaign.. its just that I managed to get the health department and random strangers on yelp, beer advocate, and this site to lie about things being dirty or infested with flies and mice. You caught me! (sarcasm in case you hadn't figured it out)

I understand why some of you fight this. Its one of those things you would rather not know. I apologize for ruining your innocence.
