How is In Riva overall? Any suggestions or tips?

I think In Riva is great. Some people find the prices to be a bit steep, but I really don't mind because the atmosphere, food, and service are all awesome. The house music selection is largely punk rock, but it's not a rowdy place nor a dive by any means.

I will say that the meatballs are pricey for such a small portion, but I still haven't been able to resist ordering them. The pizzas are all top notch--thin crust but not cracker-crisp, with a nice "leopard spot" char from the wood fire. The vasi are probably the best value on the menu, and are perfect appetizers for sharing. (It's basically a sort of DIY bruschetta, and they'll give you more bread if you run out.)

They have a happy hour featuring $2 Peroni drafts and (I think) discounted wine by the glass. They have half-priced pizzas on Tuesday nights, but I think that only applies to certain pizzas.

For the half priced pizza, you usually have to follow In Riva on facebook and they will provide you with a password for the deal every Tuesday. It's generally 3 types of pizza per week, and they rotate.

Best pizza in East Falls hands down, followed by Franks.

As I predicted, it was a small turnout - I and my wife and our two sons were joined by eldondre and Market Street El and Naveen. I was surprised at how much traffic the place had - it was pretty crowded pretty much the whole time we were there, which was awhile. After we had worked our way through the limited draft beer selections, I suggested that we adjourn to the Falls Taproom, where we had a nice time and got involved with Quizzo, which we won, after struggling with some competition. Market Street El is a walking encyclopedia, and the others at our table were no slouches, so I was surprised we didn't walk away with it. Gary Lee did a really nice job emceeing, with some interesting, thoughtful questions, some of which concerned music - no surprise there. The food at In Riva was pleasantly spiced, but the bill at that place really has a tendency to add up. If the Trolley Car at the Bathey across the way offered alcohol I would have recommended that we go there.

How is In Riva overall? Any suggestions or tips?

When I was down at the farmers market last weekend, I jealously checked out the people sitting on the back deck so this weekend 4 of us went down for a late lunch/early dinner. Absolutely fantastic. The weather was great on the back deck (they did a great job with the space), the waiter was very nice and down to earth w/great suggestions and honestly seemed happy to work there, and the food was great. I have the same complaints everyone else does about the small beers...but as for the steep prices on food, I think that their ingredients and dish creations are the best you can find around in Manayunk/Roxborough/East Falls, and rate up there with quality at most of the 'popular' Center City restaurants. When you have high quality and unusual ingredients like burrata, the consumer has to pay...and I will happily continue to. You just don't find that type of variety anywhere in this area. I think though the restaurant is best enjoyed with a group of people so you can get a variety of pizzas and small dishes to share, some of the pizza's are so rich, it might not be as enjoyable to just eat multiple pieces of the same rich pizza.
