Default Looking for Local Roofer and Plumber

Hi everyone. Just moved to East Falls 3 weeks ago, and in desperate need of a roofer and plumber. Can't complain, though, with the great price we paid for our home. Am loving EF, and would like to give the locals my business. Would appreciate any recommendations you have. Thanks.

Welcome! I can't really speak for roofers but for plumbers call Harker Plumbing. I think I got the recommendation on this board, and I have been 100% pleased with their service.

I can't say enough good things about Andy's Plumbing, based in Roxborough. They came recommended by a friend and they've done great work for me, even in emergencies, at a very fair price, plus they're nice folks.

Another vote for Harker. As for a roofer, Herb Steinberg is great, and in EF I believe.

    Here's a thread about roofers...

Thanks for the referrals. I just called Herb Steinberg at 8 AM and he promptly answered. Very nice, funny guy. And he only lives three blocks from my home. He is coming out today. Will also schedule with Harker today for the plumbing. Thanks everyone. I'll let you know how it goes.

    Hi, Dawn19129.

I will always recommend a local GC who I consistently work with and know well. Matt and his sub-contractors can do anything (including roofing and plumbing).

    Here's his information:

I can't say enough good things about Brian Moseley plumbing. He remodeled my laundry room and did a stellar job. I know he has done work for a bunch of others in East Falls as well:

Really clean, professional, and timely. Licensed and insured.

Well my roof is done! One less worry I have. Thanks for the referral to Herb Steinberg. He gave me a quote on the spot, then repaired my roof (without even trying to sell me a new roof, which another roofer did) at a great price. Produced license and insurance (which I hadn't even asked for, but was going to). Very nice family man who gave me alot of info on the neighborhood. Still trying to decide on a plumber. Hopefully I find one as good as my roofer.

Just wanted to thank everyone again for the referrals. It has rained quite hard several times since my roof was repaired, and has not once leaked anywhere-and I had several different areas of leaking. Very glad I went with Herb Steinberg. I have hired someone to do the plumbing and will see how that goes today.

Anyone have the number for Herb Steinberg? The number i tried led to an unintelligible voice mail message. :/ But he has lots of praise on this forum, and i've had terrible luck with roofers.

215-849-3838 - I'm pretty sure it's his house number, the machine message threw me off at first too, but he will respond.

215-849-3838 is Herb's home number. That recording puzzled me at first too. He explained that his son suffered from selective mutism when he was a child (he is now an adult), and that message was one of the first sentences he spoke to others. As I said in the previous thread, he is a real family man. I don't think he'll ever erase that message. You can try his email too: rooferherb@aol.com.

I also highly recommend Harker's. Mr. Harker came out when he said that he would, quoted me quickly and was super nice.

Blueroses, I have to respectfully disagree with the Andy's Plumbing recommendation. I think they were recommended to the both of us by a mutual friend but our experiences were very different. They accidentally caused a gas leak at my house and then refused to come out and fix it because they said they didn't have time. I had to call PGW - they shut off my gas. Eventually, the owner at Andy's came out to fix it but caused another problem. It was a comedy of errors and needless to say, I won't be calling them back.

Damaged roof can certainly be frustrating as it may lead to leakage of rain water and other disturbances. Initially, you may think of fixing your damaged roof all by yourself. However, there are certain reasons why it is best to ask for help and hire a quality roofer for your roof repair. There are some fundamental ways to search for and find the right and most reputable roofing contractors. These tips include: contacting the BBB, following up on references and considering the price and proposed project estimates from at least three separate companies. In the USA a well trained roofer is called a journeyman. In California, if a journeyman wishes and has three consecutive years working in the field, he is eligible to pass a state test for a contractors license.
