Make your peace with them. Domb, Dranoff, Blatstein, Neducsin, Weinstein, Blumenfeld, Lubert, Adler, Cohen, Rubin, Seligsohn, Soens. Philly would be much, much worse off without them. I've gotten to the point where I'm disgusted with my own people and I watch what the Jews do, since they know how to get stuff done, in a big way. As a matter of fact, the Jews in metro Philly started moving back into the city a few years ago, and I took it as a huge sign of strength for Philly.

I am more inclined to believe that it's the Manayunk Neighborhood Council that's the problem. That group seems to like to stall any type of progress on Main Street. I know there was a big issue between Agiato and the MNC prior to their opening.

I have no love for MNC but I can't see how they would have stopped the project at this stage. AFAICT construction had started.

No violations listed on L&I website, permits appear to all be valid.

Agiato did re-open. It's been open for over a month, now. The new menu looks good and I'm looking forward to trying it out. There seems to be a good crowd there every time I pass.

They did close last week for summer vacation, but that's not unusual.

Sheesh, I go out of town for a second and my heart nearly stops... But pleased to see that this appears to be old information. We've been to Agiato since the re-open and we love it.

I find the ethnic slurs disturbing and out of place on this thread. I'm not Jewish but find the phrase "Jew lawyers" wildly offensive.

As a lawyer, I don't litigate (thank goodness) but I will say this: lawyers wouldn't bring any suits if there weren't willing plaintiffs. Your ire is misguided in that respect. The things that folks call my office to complain about sometimes curl my toes.

As for Main Street, Agiato is fabulous. Even my kids love it - my daughter has a particular fondness for their cheese plates, as do I. The service is stellar. I hope to see more establishments like this one on the street (also worth a try: Sweet Elizabeth's for cupcakes, the Science store and Spiral Bookcase - none of which are new but all of which would love your support).

I completely agree with you, taxgirl. Agiato is in fact open since the expansion & the new menu is great!

Jerry19127 is clearly uneducated and is the kind of guy you just want to punch in the head.

Also, not at all surprised that the post in question was made by that douchebag Jerry.

So is the Main Street Market never opening again? I used to shop there almost every day for produce and meats. It would be a shame if it's closed for good.

At any rate, retailers have very specific formulae for new stores, and if the numbers don't match up they look elsewhere.
I thought I recently saw a "UPS coming soon" sign in one of the storefronts where the Starbucks/newest Citizens bank is on Ridge Ave.

I, too, would love to know what happened with Main Street Market... seems to have been forever.

Also, does anyone know what the deal with Rubb in the old Meze spot is? The sign is now off the window... my girlfriend and I are fearing the worst... we could deal with losing a good spot if what was supposedly another good one moved in, but we're worried that won't happen and the space will just be vacant.

Definitely can't put a time stamp on when Main Street Market is reopening because I have no idea, but I saw with my own two eyes yesterday they were putting the shelving back together and caught a glimpse of the inside and it looks like much progress has been made. At least it is something...

Well, as of last Monday there was a sudden rush of legal maneuvering in municipal court and common pleas court.
    Should see some action soon.

    As to what's actually open

Been to Yanako twice, First time there we sat at the table overlooking the sushi bar,
it was amazing to watch the chef trimming and cutting the fish, and forming the rice.
-- Somebody should mention to Moon that the local pet shelter who would love to have that pail of fish trimmings for the cats.--
While we were there, Dan N. came through to show a group around, looked like out of towners,
good to think that there may be new investors willing to put money into high end restaurants.
Most recently during the first part of restaurant week, fixed price specials were just as good as ala carte.

Good to hear the prior- Yanako site at 4400-4410 Main, proposed for Cervisia, is moving forward with hot new chefs.

Despite cartoon lure, fish trimmings are not good for cats. They create crystals and subsequent blockages in the urethra.

So I chatted with Richard (owner of Main Street Market) today, and he said they will be reopening next weekend. They are in the process of stocking the shelves now. It sounds like it is going to be very impressive. I am sure it will be a welcomed re-open back to Main Street.

I refuse to shop at Main Street Market for two reasons:
    1. Their prices are very high
    2. The owners (father and son) are very disrespectful towards their employees and the community. They are by no means, friendly people.

However, I will give them credit for having a very clean store.
