    Default Got an East Falls Post Office complaint?

    The East Falls Community Council has invited Philadelphia’s Postmaster, Joe Kinney, to attend its July 9 monthly meeting. The invitation letter stated that a number of people were dissatisfied with the quality of service rendered by the Ridge Ave. staff. He wrote back and said he’d like a list of the complaints and issues in advance of his arrival. So please, if you have a complaint or compliment, let us know on this thread and we’ll pass it to him. If you care to speak to him personally, the meeting is Monday, July 9, 7pm at the Falls Presbyterian Church, Midvale and Vaux.

    I have had multiple failures in the past trying to place a mail hold. Most recently they failed to hold my mail when I was gone for a week and held my neighbor's mail instead. Very unreliable service, sent email via usps.com.

    Have also gone to buy stamps and been told they are out. Very unusual for a post office and very inconvenient given the lack of "valid" parking nearby.

    I had to file an official complaint with the USPS because my postal delivery person forged my name on certified letters and just dropped them off instead of getting a signature (he accidentally left the card with my forged signature on it once!). Very often my mail is not put through my mail slot, but left between my screen door and front door only to get wet when it rains, and I too have been to the post office only to find a note that they left for 1/2 hour when they are supposed to be open.

    Default Carrier

    Carriers- This has been addressed here in the past. In general, the regular carriers are excellent; the subs poor. I can understand the subs being later because they're less familiar with the nuances of the route. But getting neighbors' mail suggests illiteracy or carelessness. Shout out for the late Dan Grimes- great person, loved the beret, excellent service. Was upset that we recently lost Jack Murphy to a reshuffling of the routes- he's the best and those on his new route are fortunate. I was told that the PO reduced the number of carriers and the adjusted routes went via seniority. No real complaints about the new guy, but Jack was the best, and a solid softball ump as well; never argued over one of his calls.

    PO- I do hold mail online and never had a problem with it. I suspect this may be more a function of the carrier than the office, but I'm not sure.

    I don't go to the PO much; haven't been there in a year. My past impression is that it's not friendly and the line can be slow. Nothing's worse than the service at Frankford (Unity Street) and Roxborough (Ridge), though. You actually have to shop around for a friendly PO (not too convenient) so it must have somehing to do with the local management.

    Thumbs up to my carrier Lee. Never a problem with him. The subs could be better, they don't always use the mailbox, just leave the mail in the door. The PO on the other hand, leaves a lot to be desired. It's dirty, service is slow & unfriendly. Theyhave also been out of stamps when I've gone in.
