Anyone know what kind of Indian?

I expect BYOB. If they kill it they may go for a liquor license, but that takes time and money. I can't imagine going through that until the business model has been proven.

Damn good news. East Falls seriously lacks a diversity of food options. Laxmi in MYK is good, and definitely not a low-end eatery. I hope the EF location lives up to the same. Can't wait!

I live across the street and have been watching the progress. Based on what I've seen thus far I don't think this will open quickly. People randomly show up and do some work but no major progress has been made. Most of the work seems to be happening in the basement and they was a bit of work in the main area but not much has changes since brothers left. I think Laxmi's may be a new development since a few weeks ago it was going to be a NYC style deli so maybe the new owners will work to get it open more quickly.

I'll be curious to see what they do with the space since I'm not sure where they will do the cooking. Brothers didn't have a full kitchen and putting one in would be fairly expensive and if you have it on the first floor would take up a lot of space. They looked to be doing a bit of work in the basement so maybe they will put it down there but that would be pretty expensive since you'd need to do a lot of venting. I'm wondering if they will do the bulk of the cooking at the MYK location and just be reheating in EF.

I think it will be a nice addition if it all works out well.

This is an interesting development. I just passed by the Laxmi's in Manayunk, and they don't appear to be going anywhere. In fact, We just ordered delivery from them last night. It seems as if they are opening an additional location, as opposed to moving.

They must be banking on a lot of eat-in business at the East Falls location, because the MYK location already delivers to the Falls.

They do? I called before and they wouldn't come to EF (went and picked up).

Sweet! I just bought a groupon to this place in Manayunk a couple weeks ago and I've been there before and it's solid. Nothing extraordinary, but when your jonesing for Indian, it's a good call.

Anyone have any updates on when this might be opening? i live a few houses away and I see little to no progress being made. I think they moved tables in last month but nothing seems to have changed since then.

No idea but at this point I'd be satisfied if somebody would just fix their sign which had been crooked for the past 4 months.

Last week they put in a POS system and on new years eve they were moving the tables in side around and put up some paper on the windows. Hope that means a opening is imminent.

No luck on the crooked sign.

The paper in the windows does not seem like a step in the right direction. Any theories why the paper would go up when they seemed 95% of the way ready to open the place?

Perhaps there has been a change of plans. Maybe they recognized their error and are pulling up stakes and will commence to relocate on East Falls' Champs Élysées, Ridge Avenue.
