    Default Your Property Tax: Going Up or Down?

    Richie McKeithen from the City Office of Property Assessment (OPA) will speak at the June 11 meeting of the East Falls Community Council, 7:00pm, at the Falls Presbyterian Church (Midvale & Vaux Aves.). He will answer questions like: What are the chances of the plan passing this year? In general, will East Falls’, Roxborough, and Manyunk taxes be raised? How do we appeal? Are there special provisions for seniors and low-income homeowners? Will the tax plan be phased in over 3 years? Is it true that the Homestead Exemption will reduce taxes for homeowners if applied for by July 31 and there are no income or age restrictions?

    The EFCC sent these and other questions to him in advance of his presentation. Plan to attend to find out the latest information of how you might be affected in three months.

    This is Philadelphia....what do YOU think?! )-;
    She understood history, memory, record.
    And I will not forget her, a common housewife, who rose above her nature.

    The Homestead Exemption should really be called the anti-renters' penalty. By reducing the amount of taxes homeowners pay, everyone else will have to pay more than they otherwise would have to raise the same amount of money. Landlords will pass this increased cost along to their customers (renters).

    I wasn't able to attend the meeting last night. Did Richie McKeithen from the City Office of Property Assessment (OPA) give any good information on what will or will not happen in East Falls?

    Sadly, almost every housing policy in the US is anti-renter.
