Local Gym W/ Swimming Pool?

Hey! I'm looking to join a gym with an indoor swimming pool -- I'm developing knee arthritis and need to start swimming and doing some leg strength work.

I know the Y on Ridge has both exercise equipment and a pool. But is there anywhere else that may be cheaper?

I'd prefer somewhere in NW Philly but I'll be coming from King of Prussia so all points in between could work.

Croc and YMCA have legitimate indoor pools. To a lesser extent, LA Fitness Andorra and Aquatic club in Bala have pools but they are your typical smaller indoor fitness club style.

I goto the Kroc Center on Wissahickon Ave. Plymouth Meeting has a Community Center off Germantown Ave which is similar to a nice gym/La Fitness style. It's higher for non-residents so if price is what you're looking for it's probably a little steep, and a bit out of the way.

The pool at LA Fitness in Andorra is actually pretty good if you don't mind sharing lanes from time to time. Mainly, you have to work around the AquaFit (water aerobics) class schedule (unless that's actually what you're looking for) and expect it to be busier than usual during the weeks leading up to the Philly Triathlon and other big swim events.

A friend figured this out: the Y has recipricol membership meaning you can use any one in the PHilly-Y system.

The rates are not all the same at all locations.....

You can also go to Y's in other states. I belonged to the Y in ROX but also used the Y in Towson MD. I even found the Y in Prague willing to honor my membership Philly membership. However, I believe it is up to the individual Y's.

I don't know what you are talking about with the Kroc Center being higher for non-residents... they have one membership price for everyone, and it is printed on their brochures.

The second one PASnow mentioned —the Plymouth Meeting Community Center — is higher for non-residents.
