Default West Chester First Date Ideas

    Hi.
I recently met someone who i am very interested in. SO naturally why not crowd source for first date ideas!

Seriously though, this person moved to West Chester and Im looking for ideas for a first date. Ive never been to west chester, but I do want to make some suggestions...

The date is on a Sunday, Im thinking we will get lunch and I was looking at High Street Cafe. Has anyone been there? Is it suited for a first date? ie condusive to talking, somewhat intimate, clean, good food, etc...

Also, I had an idea that I would take her on one of these... they are only 5 minutes long (the price isnt really an issue to me, Im more interested in creating a memorable day because I have a feeling about this person) so its not really that big of a deal. Of course we would go before eating ...

Any thoughtful input would be appreciated...

High Street Cafe is very good.

I'd not plan a helicoptor ride without talking to her about it first. I get horrible motion sickness and this would be miserable for me unless i knew in advance and could medicate. But if i really liked some dude and he seemed really excited about it, i'd probably do it anyway and be miserable.

and as someone who gets motion sickness, an empty stomach is far far worse than a full stomach (not overly full, but my best bet for non-sick motiony rides is about an hour after a good meal).

I understand High Street is good, but I've only been at night for music.

I second toxigal's feelings about the helicopter ride. Maybe Longwood Gardens or wine tasting at Chadds Ford winery? A stroll through the Brandywine Museum? All of these will require driving. If you decide on Longwood, they have a pretty good restaurant in the gardens.

High Street is a great option.

Yeah im second guessing the whole helicopter thing at this point.

This is the first time I will be on a date outside the city (except for one boardwalk date) for over ten years. I am at a real disadvantage.

Although the helicopters are small, the pilots realize their passengers are first timers and will try and make the ride comfortable and memorable. Up in the air, 4 right turns and back on the ground. I say go for it. Either way, good or bad, she will definitely remember it. Been to many Rotorfests, will be there this weekend and will be looking for the excited couple. Hopefully she won't be too pale after the ride. Good luck!

Haha. I did say 'good or bad'. Just bring a little paper bag.

Seriously they aren't doing acrobatics. It's like going up a tall escalator in the mall, walking around the second floor and coming back down the escalator. Well sort of.

escalator or elevator? because when i stay in high rise hotels, i ask for a low floor because the elevator rides make me nauseated. granted, i'm an extreme case, but i'm not alone.

It's been a long time since I've been on a first date but a friend has started a blog of her online dating adventures and an unexpected helicopter ride with barfing sounds like it could easily be an entry. Also, this girl might be weirded out by someone trying so hard on a first date.

me too sycamore. when i was a kid the escalator at Sears sounded like Darth Vader. so of course, my sister told me Darth Vader lived underneath it. That was the beginning. I can't just walk onto one. I have to pause at the bottom (or top) and watch to make sure my foot is landing squarely on a step.

We are going to Longwood Gardens. Apparently there is a chili cook off in west chester on sunday which is a total mess. Streets shut down and people everywhere. So eating downtown could have been a real problem.
No helicopters. Just lunch and a walk in the park. Supposed to be cool and partly cloudy. So at least theres no rain forecast.

Last time I was at Longwood the Terrace restaurant was amazing. Not sure if you would need reservations, but here is a link The Terrace - Shopping & Dining - Longwood Gardens

Escalator. While helicopters can go straight up, they perform better while having some forward motion.
