Default Bigfoot hoax guy gets killed

Darwin Awards contender, if I ever saw one.
(CNN) -- A man trying to create a Bigfoot hoax on a highway died after being hit by two cars, officials in Montana said.

Randy Lee Tenley dressed in a Ghillie suit -- camouflage designed to resemble heavy foliage -- and stepped out onto Highway 93 Sunday night, officials said.

"He probably would not have been very easy to see at all," said Jim Schneider, a state trooper.

A 15-year-old girl hit him with her car, another car swerved, and a third car driven by a 17-year-old ran him over, CNN affiliate KECI reported.

eh, it's Montana. And it's a rural county...pop density of 15/sq mile, according to Wiki.

Anyway, not sure which one is more tragically funny, this story or the Grizzly Man story.

Yeah, I thought that too. I know it's the country but still...

You might find this chart interesting:

At which age can you legally learn to drive in the various States?
If you believe people should work till they die to pay for a government worker to retire at 50, you're a Democrat. Otherwise, you're a Republican. All other differences between the parties are trivial.

I understand the need for teenagers to be able to operate farming vehicles in certain parts of the US, but highway driving at 15? Damn!

The story is a bit sad. Guy trying to put together a light hearted prank and clearly underestimated the dangers of the highways. His visabilty probably sucked and cars come at you fast.

I feel bad the grizzly got shot. After all he was just being a bear.

Exactly. I have no sympathy for a human in that scenario.

I was thinking of the Werner Herzog movie:
Grizzly Man - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The personality of Timothy Treadwell in that movie just seemed tragic...Treadwell spent months living among the bears because he couldn't handle living among humans... the comedy was in the Herzog's voice over commentary that was so earnest as to make you chuckle from time to time.

He should have chosen a clearing off the busy highway to try and act out his idea... he could have had some lighting focusing on the clearing to get the drivers' attention and then they would notice him and his bigfoot-ness. He didn't have to walk right onto the highway to grab some attention. To knowingly walk onto and across some highway lanes clearly is stupid even if you're not wearing any costume...

I had my learner's permit at 15 and a full license at 16. And that was just a little over a decade ago in Tennessee. Many states, especially those that have higher populations in rural areas, allow solo driving at 16, usually limited in some form until 18 though.
