    Question Shockwave & Chrome crashing

Is anyone else having issues with Shockwave and with the Chrome browser today?
I'm doing some half-hearted googling and checking computer forums today, but I thought I'd post here since I'll probably have this forum open for most of the day today.

Using Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.8)
Chrome is up to date: Version 21.0.1180.79
I get a message at the top that "Shockwave has crashed." Additionally, the whole browser keeps crashing about every half hour.

    Cheers.

Check whether you have the latest Flash plugin installed. Go to System Preferences -> Flash -> Advanced to check for updates. I hadn't been experiencing crashes, but I only fire up Chrome occasionally. I hadn't seen any crashes recently in Safari (and I'm also on MacOS X 10.6.8). I just now updated my Flash from 11.3.300.265 to 11.3.300.271.

    Thanks!
Yeah, I forgot to mention that I was prompted to update Flash on this computer this morning, and did so. I'd been out of town for several days.
I wonder if the update is the cause of the problem.

I have this problem too. One thing I found is that Chrome has a Flash plugin built in, so if you have Flash installed separately too, they can conflict. Go to chrome://plugins/ and expand details (top right). If you see two Flash plugins, try disabling one.

Very useful info- thanks! You know, I'd always assumed that there would be a conflict one day between Chrome's plug-in and the other two browsers I use (or rather, all the flash stuff I downloaded for those browsers). Flash was working fine on my linux netbook, where I don't think I have Adobe stuff installed. Just Chrome.

Went to chrome://plugins/ which was handy in itself, because I saw and disabled all kinds of things I don't want. Move Media Player, Silverlight, etc.
Lo and behold, NO versions of flash were installed because of a botched attempt to eliminate duplicate plug-ins earlier this morning. I had been following instructions I found on youtube. Of course, the youtube video wouldn't play with no flash working, but the author put the instructions in plain text in the video's description.

After reading your post, I copied a back-up of "Flash Player Plug-in for Chrome.plugin" back into the Library, and it started working again. So, I went from duplicate plug-ins to zero, and then to one. :-)

Hmm, you can also go to chrome://flash/

It shows I have 2 copies, one not used.

For serious geeks, you can actually find hyperlinks to deep inside the C++ source code tree on code.google.com via the profiler built into chrome.
