I hope that in America people have a right to be ignorant, ill-informed and base their life's ideology on a fictional book of fables and the rest of us, cherishing freedom, would protect that sacred freedom.

Typical cultural elitist garbage. Many people who "based their life's ideology on a fictional book of fables" (the Bible) gave their full measure to protect the freedom of "the rest of us".

Now, now. No need to use double negatives.

I don't think you have a firm grasp on what the term "double negative" means.

But they couldn't help themselves because they're stupid. If you think people waited in blocks long lines last week because of what Dan Cathy said, you are mistaken. They waited because tyranny espoused by elected officials is unacceptable at any level. Still, I doubt they learned that lesson.

OK. I looked at these links, and now I'd like to know how you intend to repay me for such wasted time.

    1. Marriott vs. Chickfila?! Really? Before getting into the ridiculous nature of such a comparison, I can sum it up and shut it down with one simple fact. Marriott is a publicly traded company while Chickfila is a private corporation.

    2. Jon Stewart? What crap. Zero news value, and I'm constantly amazed at his Christian hating ways. He mocked churches being in boston, chicago, etc. while completely ignoring facts-like the mosques and religious leaders who have come to major cities with land and tax breaks at the invitation of these mayors, and their actual anti-gay stance.

Who did boston's mayor say he didn't want in Boston? A guy who supports the biblical definition of marriage and never once said anything bad about gay people. Who did the mayor of Boston invite in? A muslim leader who said, "the punishment of homosexuality is the death penalty", and "Some say we should throw them from a high place, like God did with the people of Sodom. Some say we should burn them."

Yeah. Jon Stewart should stick with comedy since facts aren't his strongest suit.

"The issue isn’t that Dan Cathy disapproves of gay marriage; that’s hardly a shocker in a business so infused with Baptist values that its outlets are closed on Sundays. The problem is that he crossed the line in letting his faith become les
s about inspiration than alienation. Not only did he openly condemn the beliefs of a big chunk of Chick-fil-A’s audience, he implied that their views are unpatriotic and even put the country at risk. Divorce rates being what they are, praising the men in his family for “still being on their first wives” probably didn’t win him many friends, either." - Ann Burlingham

The thing for me is statements like this inflame the idiots who would act on them. There are consequences to free speech. In his case it was a good day of business, in the sailor's case it was torture and death. He has every right to say what he wants, no question.

    watch the stewart link.

Another thing that I must mention is how predictable Jon Stewart's rants have become. He makes fun of 'the far right' for eating a chickfila sandwich out of support, yet never once mentions the idiocy of those who want to protest by not eating a sandwich. The simple fact is that the boycott failed, had an opposite effect, and now they're playing catch up.

there was no mocking of churches. you can twist and turn that segment anyway you want, and no mocking of churches occurred. he mocked the hypocrisy of the mayors. he pointed out that banning chick-fil-a because of the beliefs of it's owner would be unconstitutional.

sure, john stewart is a liberal. he certainly makes not claims to the contrary. but anyone who suggests he does not take on the left and their stupidity is being intellectually dishonest.

Uhhhhh... Obviously you either didn't watch it or you have a serious case of denial. The entire end is about making fun of churches being in each of the cities where mayors told off ChickFila, and lumping them all together as gay haters.

And his prescribed 'taking on the left' is as softball as fox news asking republicans 'tough questions'. What a joke. You and many other people miss another thing he always says-he's not news or journalism by any means, but 80 some percent of his viewers use that as their main source of news. Pretty damn sad.

he wasn't "making fun of churches" he was making fun of the stupid mayors who claimed CFA didn't have their "values" and pointing out they were hypocrites for saying they didn't want CFA in their town because of their stance on gay marriage when they would never dream of saying such a thing about churches.

why would you lump me in there? i'm well aware that JS is not a journalist. i certainly don't use him as my main source of news.

Omfg... You are seriously clueless. That's exactly why I'm 'lumping you in with them'. If you can't see how he generalized all churches in that little skit then there really is no hope for you.

i disagree with your assessment. that doesn't make me clueless or have anything to do with my understanding of JS being a comedy show. it just means i disagree with your interpretation of the segment. i don't think you are clueless because you disagree with me, i do think you are stretching to find insult where none exists.

"Noone is allowed to be indignant about this except me because I'm right and everyone else is stupid." This thread is dead, dead, dead.

I really can't help that you people don't wish to comprehend the show you love.

    Jon Stewart-
"I think maybe the mayors haven't thought this thing through"
    (footage of mayors)
"Is being against gay marriage your standard of values because I'm pretty sure there's already another franchise based anti-gay marriage organization with branches throughout your cities you more than likely embrace…(shows church) that's the one with over 1 billion served."

"There you go chickfilaters, don't you stop until there's a church in every town-oh wait, really?"
