Default 14 dead , many shot in Colorado theater shooting thread...

Because its too sad to make any "Batman puns" like the OTHER "news" sites are already....

14 Shot Dead, 50 Wounded During Dark Knight Rises Showing in Colorado

Witnesses say that the shooter, dressed in all black and with his face covered, kicked open an emergency exit door in one of Century 16's theaters. One witness placed him in "a riot helmet, goggles and bullet-proof vest." He then set off a tear gas or smoke bomb and opened fire, reportedly during a shootout scene early in the movie. (Brenda Stuart of 850 KOA radio says that "a lot of people thought the gunshots were part of the movie.") Denver's KUSA reports that the shooter had briefly ceased fire, but only to reload his weapon.

Killer is 24 yearl old ex-med student.
doesnt say why he withdrew from med-school.
given his age, I can only theorize that he couldn't handle the real world and stress of med-school being that he was probably coddled
like so many their age were when they were kids.

Details Emerge About Suspect in Movie Massacre
Holmes, the suspect, had an assault rifle, a shotgun and two pistols, and police are continuing to search his apartment, which was booby trapped. Authorities say they have no motive for the shooting. The FBI said there was no indication of ties to any terrorist groups.
Woah there, "authorities"....haven't you heard? FKD has this all figured out based on nothing at all.

No I read it. You have theorized something completely out of left field based on his age and the fact that he was in med-school. Oh and that he was "probably" coddled. A-1 detective work there, chief.

In other, more relevant news this is really sad.

I think now is the time to bring up the issue of Obamacare since the guy went to med school.

Quite frankly I'm surprised this is the first mention of it.

How long before metal detectors are a common sight in movie theaters?

If that happens than we will get people who have a license to carry crying that their rights are being infringed upon. I am sure many people around the country right now are saying that if all of these people had armed themselves than none of this would have happened.

I think that the parents who had their 3month old out to watch a midnight showing of batman should be charged with childhood endangerment and be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

What nonsense. Not blaming you-but I've heard the same thing today.

OK-somehow having people armed would have stopped a guy dressed in bullet proof tactical gear who was armed with legal weapons and opened fire in a dark theater that was hit with smoke grenades? Yeah-there's only one batman in the theater and he's on the screen.

Yes, but the people saying that I am sure are all certain they would have heroically saved the day with one well placed bullet.

Once again-not arguing with you. That's just a failed argument. The guy was in SWAT tactical gear, had an ar15, shotgun, and two pistols. He also had a gas mask where everyone else had none.

On the other extreme? A metal detector would have also been worthless. He stored everything by an emergency exit by the back. Unless every public venue in america starts security sweeps and the fire code is amended so that fire doors can be locked? Crap can happen. Hell, even with safeguards in place things can happen.

Speaking of magic bullets, this boy really is special..

The suspect in the killing of 12 people at a Colorado screening of the new Batman movie had colored his hair red and told police he was "the Joker," according to a federal law enforcement source with knowledge of the investigation.

Police say James Holmes, 24, was dressed in protective gear and set off two devices of some kind before firing from an AR-15 rifle, a 12-gauge shotgun and at least one of two handguns recovered. A source said Holmes carried a magazine capable of holding more than 100 rounds and that his guns were purchased legally in the past six months.

Tho, the "Joker" would have never done this....but why try and argue with crazy?

Louie Gohmert: Aurora Shootings Result Of 'Ongoing Attacks On Judeo-Christian Beliefs'

Tired of Christians who haven't read the New Testament.

"People say ... where was God in all of this?" Gohmert said. "We've threatened high school graduation participations, if they use God's name, they're going to be jailed ... I mean that kind of stuff. Where was God? What have we done with God? We don't want him around. I kind of like his protective hand being present."

Gohmert also said the tragedy could have been lessened if someone else in the movie theater had been carrying a gun and took down the lone shooter. Istook noted that Colorado laws allow people to carry concealed guns.

"It does make me wonder, with all those people in the theater, was there nobody that was carrying a gun that could have stopped this guy more quickly?" he asked.
Maybe because they are real Christians and don't believe in killing people.
