    Default Mumia Abu-Jamal

I think this is another fascinating case , 10 lawyers have represented him since the 1981 arrest !!

And now the The lead lawyer for celebrated death-row inmate Mumia Abu-Jamal has quit the case just days before a key appeals court hearing, amid a rift with his famous client over strategy !!

The evidence is pretty clear , so what is the mystery about this case ??

I've read the evidence. Mumia Abu-Jamal killed Daniel Faulkner. End of story.

Never have so many people been so wrong about a case.

The only ‘warfare’ I’ve seen is the battle that’s been waged against middle-class families in this country for a decade now.”

Mumia Abu-Jamal is a done deal. They should be looking into who killed John Gilbride.

For me this is all mindblowing and confusing, they compare this to the Spisak case ??
So in the end is it true that lawyers have to create confusion and chaos to manipulate the system or our mind ??

Hugh J. Burns Jr., chief of the district attorney's appellate unit, was sharply questioned by Judges Thomas L. Ambro and Robert Cowen as he argued that Abu-Jamal's case fit within the confines of Spisak.

I bet a majority of those who protest in favor of Mumia aren't even familiar with all of the details. From what I've seen most of them are in the early 20's. They were not even born yet or a gleam in their father's eyes (old saying some might not have heard of) when Office Faulker was shot.

Right. I've always wondered what exactly these "protesters" get in return for their screaming, chanting, sign holding, and overall disruption.

Are they all there because they have that much free time on their hands and truely want to protest?

Or, are they compensated in someway by cold hard cash, freebees, housing, etc.?

I've always viewed them as paid nuisances.

Understand this..."Mumia" is a brand. A money-making brand. They operate under the guise of being a non-profit, but the reality is that they follow none of the rules. They disclose nothing. So, yes, in all likelihood, people are living off of the proceeds of all of this "fundraising". These *protestors* really can't afford to let him die (not that he would) nor can they afford to keep him out of the limelight for long.

Also, I am certain some of the "protestors" revel in being anarchists.

And the DA has decided not to pursue the death penalty aspect of the case and just let the bastard sit in jail. It's the correct decision at this point. Hopefully Wesley Cook will rot in jail in anonymity now. Perhaps sharing a cell with Ira Einhorn.

Default Anyone remember the Millions for Mumia Rally of 1999?

Organizers were claiming a quarter of million people would mass at City Hall on April 24th, Mumia's 45th birthday. They said they would shut down this city. 8-10 thousand showed up, mostly those of the anarchist-lifestyle-funded-by-rich-dads variety.

Mumia will never be executed, but since as others have posted above, he most definitely killed Ofc Faulkner, he ought to rot in prison the rest of his life.

I have to agree. While the appropriate sentence was not carried out, at this point it would be impossible for a new sentencing hearing to issue the death penalty.

Hopefully it will allow Maureen and her family to finally move on and not have to deal with this every few years. The only draw back is that while mumia will never get out, now that he is off of Death Row he will be put into General Population.

And while this should appease some of the folks who supported him because they were anti-death penalty, already his supporters are now moving to free him totally.

While I believe he should have been put to death for his crime years ago, at this point the decision to let him rot is probably the one he would least prefer. He is relegated to the "who cares" corner of a prison full of other lifers. No longer in the limelight, never to be a martyr, no rallying points, another loser behind bars like countless others. Sounds more like hell for this guy than anything else you can think of.

Yes he needs to get off death row and in the general population. There are no stars in the yard. In fact some youngster might want to make his bones by killing the s.o.b..

Hope your theory proves right. This sentence overturn spews the wrong message. God bless the peacekeepers!
