Dozens of license applications pending before the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board tell a story of local economic opportunity...SYSCO Food Services of Pittsburgh LLC pitched its distribution services to the casino, said president and COO Len Petrancosta. While it awaits the casino’s decision, the company has submitted its license application to the state’s gaming board.
Giffin Interior & Fixture Inc. in Bridgeville has been providing its architectural woodwork to Pennsylvania casinos since the Presque Isle Downs & Casino opened in Erie in 2007.
Its licensing application was approved recently. President Gordon Giffin said he had to tweak things along the away at the request of the gaming board.
Harbach said the state’s licensing standards are definitely stricter than most.
Not only does it license more — Nevada, for example, doesn’t require licenses
The major recruiting effort for Pittsburgh’s Rivers Casino begins in late March with a one-day career fair, where managers in charge of everything from food service to finance will set up booths and talk shop with potential employees.
Following that, the company will hold periodic job fairs — a mall booth with pamphlets, for example, to spread awareness of the new employer. Job postings and applications also are listed at thepittsburghcasino.com.
The majority of employees, about 800, will be hired in June and July. The casino is slated to open in August.
The casino has had two credit-rating downgrades from Standard & Poor's since debuting Aug. 9. The most recent was on Nov. 24, when its credit rating went from a "B-" to a "C" for severe underperformance...But Rivers, which has consistently finished in the bottom tier among Pennsylvania's nine casinos, remains on pace to earn slightly less than half the revenue projected by the state before it opened, and slightly less than 40 percent of the revenue projected by its owner, Chicago billionaire Neil Bluhm, who is also majority investor of the planned SugarHouse Casino for Philadelphia's waterfront.
looks like crap in the renderings, not another toursit attraction, the slots equivalent of pier 70 more likley. it's supposed to be temporary though I'd imagine they simply planned on adding to it rather than tearing it down and replacing it.

It looks like a Walmart with a porte cochere. Fortunately, Philly has alot more to offer than that. Unfortunately, this won't add much to what Philly has to offer. I'll have to make a point of cruising by the site so I can check up on the progress, to see whether it has redeeming features. It looks like it comes out to the sidewalk, which is better than the Wal-mart does down the street.
