Job Title: Evidence Processing Specialist
Grade Education & Experience
I-7 High school diploma and strong computer skills including MS Office and Excel are required; bachelor's degree in science preferred.
II-8 High school diploma with a minimum 2 years lab experience and strong computer skills including MS Office and Excel are required; bachelor’s degree in science preferred.
Summary
This position involves the receiving, processing and final disposition of evidence. The processing includes, but not limited to, the chain of custody documentation, coding, storing, retrieving, transferring, and returning/discarding of physical evidence.
Lab Assistant position (2 positions T-S 9-5:30 and T-S 9-2: Specimen Processing department. This person will assist in receiving, unpacking and storing human biological specimens (blood, urine, serum, tissue, etc). Other responsibilities include:
Ÿ Transporting and retrieving specimens within the lab
Ÿ Sorting specimens and maintaining record of courier air bills
Ÿ Monitoring equipment temperatures
Ÿ Maintaining supply inventory for the department
Ÿ Discarding specimens from specimen storage
Ÿ Assisting with cleaning of glassware, equipment and work areas
Ÿ Preparation of cleaning solutions
Candidates must display a strong work ethic, and function effectively as a team player. High school diploma and experience with MS Office is required. Typing and data entry skills are strongly desired. Candidates must be detail oriented and able to follow chain of custody procedures. This person will need to stand for up to 2 hours at a time and lift and carry objects up to 10 pounds.
