Default any success stories?

i'm considering getting a tankless soon (i live in a small trinity so it seems like a good option to free up space) and will most likely replace my heater at the same time.

anyone on here have success stories of getting one installed and could you fill me in on who did it?

much obliged.

Anyone have a boiler with a water heating coil on it? Tankless water heating is nothing new, its just with the introduction of forced air HVAC fewer and fewer boilers are out there.

I was thinking about this system as I was reading through the thread. We renovated the building that houses our business and used exactly this type of combination heat/hotwater. It uses a gas-fired boiler. It's a very efficient system that provides plenty of hot water and baseboard hotwater heat. It would be too expensive to retrofit our 100 year old rowhouse, but I'd love to have it at home too.

I recently upgraded the mechanicals in my house...I replaced the enormous antique boiler with a new efficient direct vent gas boiler and replaced the old hot water heater with an indirect hot water heater.

I couldn't be happier with the system, it is much more efficient during the heating season and slightly more efficient in the summer. The indirect system I have is basically a tank in tank design that is super insulated, which means that although it is not tankless the standby loss is minimal.

The boiler heats a small amount of water in a seperate loop to indirectly heat the domestic hot water in the inner tank. The tank is stainlesss steel and has a lifetime warranty. If you have a moderately efficient boiler (greater than 80%) than an indirect hot water heater is worth considering, especially if you require a lot of hot water, as these make copious quantities of hot water.

Electric Tankless hot water heaters are great if you install smaller units in or near each bathroom/Kitchen. The save money by only heating the water that is needed. I would not want a whole house system. I have only seen too many problems.

I've got a whole house system and so far have had no problems. I think I already posted about all this, but it's a legacy system that still uses a pilot light and isn't all computerized and would work if the electric goes out .

Works with low water flow and heats fine with dish washer washing machine and shower going. I only have one bath though so those running two showers at once may have problems. You just need to determine your GPM hot water requirements.

Don't really lower the bills much as you take longer showers because the water doesn't get cold, ever.
