    Default Mashed Blackberry Poop

Did I get your attention? (At least I didn't post this in the Food & Drink thread....)

On Sunday, I noticed several splotches in my backyard of what must be some kind of bird poo, but I'd never seen anything like it before. It really looks like mashed blackberries, pretty decent-sized piles (maybe the diameter of a quarter and piled up a bit). There were 3 or 4, and as soon as I'd cleaned them up and hosed down the concrete, another one appeared.

There haven't been any before or since.

It must be a bird? There are no other animals in our backyard, which is 90% flagstone with garden beds around it, and is sheltered on all four sides by the walls of adjacent buildings (with about a 6' gap above the fence on one side). We have lots birds and nests because all the walls are covered in ivy, but this isn't what I usually see.

Any guesses what it could be?

I'll say it's mulberry poop from a mockingbird or catbird.
Save it for me to see when I come out there. lol

So that's why I have seen so many catbirds recently. They hanging around feasting on the local mulberry then painting my garden chairs. There must a blackberry bush nearby too. As birdpoop goes, those two are some of the worst.

I've gotten several colorful black poops from birds too here in Mayfair, staining my pavement and steps.
I don't know what a catbird is, but someone enlighten me.

I have noticed some birds singing mating tunes the past few weeks.

FWIW, bird poop is extremely bad for car paint and can leave an etching from the enzymes used in digestion within minutes. Some people don't care, some people carry paper towels in their car. Usually after a few days though, the damage is done and the repair is costly.
