I had a small backfire of smoke from the oil burner today, enough to call the alarm company.

I turned off the system at the boiler, for an 11 day vacation. Upon my return, I switched back the electricity, and was rewarded with just enough smoke to trigger the smoke detector, and have the alarm company call me.

I let it quiese and all seems ok. I assume some build up flashed over to create too much smoke and too little draft.

What say ye?
