Default A door that doesn't take up much space

When I moved into my home, the bathroom had a standard door that opened outward into the hallway. It bothered me instantly because you could not walk down the hallway when it was open. Keeping it closed didn't seem like an option because the bathroom window lets a lot of light into an otherwise windowless hallway. Also it's easy to see it's unoccuppied, etc.

I quickly replaced it with a bifold door typically seen on closets (24 in. x 80 in. Composite White 6-Panel Bi-Fold Door-02431 at The Home Depot) that had been at the top of the basement steps. Not only was it an amateur execution, but I've noticed that only about 50% of the people that use my bathroom can figure out how to completely close the thing.

So while I had a carpenter over for another issue I asked about replacing it with another door that takes up less space. His only suggestion so far is one of these telescoping vinyl doors (Fusion 32 in. x 80 in. White Folding Door-PRFU3280WH at The Home Depot).

While that's probably fine, I wonder what other options are out there. Any suggestions?

I like that, but unfortunatley there's not enough space for the door to slide into the wall around it's frame. The door frame is on an angled corner of the bathroom with only about 6 inches of wall on either side of the door parallel to the frame.

Barely and it'd be really obstructive.

Put back on the first door...and cut it in the middle so that it's like a side by side fridge door. Instantly takes up half the width of what the old one did when it's open. You can put a magnetic closure strip on the top and a cross latch on the back for a lock. Works in many of the 990 square foot house styles in Fishtown/S. Philly.

French doors? That what I had for the door going out to my patio for the same reason – no room for a large door to open inward.
