    Default PECO vs.????

I just got my PECO bill and I have seen a significant increase. I have not researched switching because I was waiting for things to level out.
Has anyone switched effectively and easily and saved money? Thanks

just wanted to warn you, I found there are two energy plus companies, one is a texas company and this is a legitimate description
this is is energy plus holdings
Energy Plus has received quite a few negative reviews as of late on the internet. This company is a retail electricity company operating in several states. They have a partnership with Best Buy where they sell electric service through their Rewards Program. The issue is that many people are complaining that their variable electric rate is not what they expected.

What is really bad is that there is a well respected energy brand called PPL EnergyPlus that could be mistaken for Energy Plus

this one is simply energy plus, which is a PPL subsidiary
do NOT opt for the texas based company, otoh, ppl's energy plus is lower than peco and generally a well respected company, much like peco itself. I'd also caution you, though, PECO is lowering their rates so you're bills should not be going up AFAIK

I assume when you say you have seen a significant increase you mean in the price per Kwh?

It is pretty easy to compare your options.

I do need to look into it more thoroughly. However it was a $74 bill and I do believe my normal December bill was about half that.
    P.S. no grandmother
    heating system= gas
    and I track these things.

you can find last year's bill online and compare your cost per Kwh and usage from last december. easy peasy.

The bill itself has a comparison of usage to last year.

Psst.. the heater uses electricity in order to run.
    Ignition/flame control = electric
    Blower/fan/water pump = electric

I'm still with PECO, but no significant increase like you mentioned. We run two large screen tv's, 2 computers, tons of lights. Heat is gas/wood.
    Last year - Nov 69.00
This year - Nov 80.00 (rounded off)
Mine is up 11.00, but we have this great electric blanket we just got a few months ago.

We switched to the the Energy Cooperative, 1-215-413-2122.
Not that I look at my bill that carefully, but it seems much lower than it has been in the past with no real changes in our lifestyle.

PECO generation rate did go up slightly starting with October service. The increase was $0.0072/kWh (7.5%).

I realise the heat system uses elctric but we have not had the system on a lot due to warm weather. Stove is also gas.
Anyway thanks to those who provided helpful tips. I will explore....

IIRC the PECO rates for households with electric heat did change significantly.

ETA: Actually this doesn't happen until Jan 1.

I just noticed that one of the rewards programs I'm a member of is affiliated with Energy Plus Holdings LLC, and ended up here while researching. I did figure out that they're a different company from PPL EnergyPlus after seeing that PPL EnergyPlus is listed as a fixed rate provider on papowerswitch.com vs. the variable rate metioned in the blurb for the rewards program. One thing I'm curious about is why Energy Plus Holdings LLC isn't listed as an option on papowerswitch, even though they appear to be an option?
