    Default wall mounted mailbox...

i'm getting a new front door and will lose my mail slot. so i'm looking for a fun, modernish, wall mounted box. house numbers on the box would be a bonus, but i can certainly add those too.

but wow, mailboxes are expensive! i'm shocked at how much it cost to buy a little metal box.

any suggestions on where to look for something a bit fun but not wallet busting?

Define "wallet busting"....or how cheap are you?
Perhaps you would like a free mailbox..installed for free!

You can get a decent mailbox for under $50.
Or have a slot cut into your new door.

Yup, they can be expensive...do you travel much?

In that case you might want to have a new slot installed so that you don't have to have the PO stop delivery.

We have a wall mounted and have friends pick up our mail when traveling, make certain that it is big enough for mags, financial and insurance have large envelopes and the oddly oversized corporate annual reports.

With all the corporate reports and newspapers/magazines we just put an old tupperware container we trash-picked on
the porch with a slit cut in the lid, and we didn't have to pay some loser to install it.

if i had known how much a mailbox i liked would cost, i would have ordered the door with a mail slot but when i was buying the door the cost of the slot seemed crazy.

i found one i like on ebay that is decent and <$100.
