    Default Furniture Store

So I want to upgrade some of the furniture in my house, in particular the bed, chest & drawers and maybe some bookshelves. What is an affordable (under 2k for all of this would be great) in Philadelphia that is not Ikea, Ethan Allen or Raymour and Flanigan, and of a modern style?

    West Elm, perhaps?

I've actually gotten a few pieces recently from Pier 1. Their furniture is reasonably priced and sized more appropriately for row homes. The major furniture stores tend to have huge pieces that look gigantic and out of place in a smaller space.

American Signature sometimes has nice stuff and there a ton of furniture stores in Manayunk (Main Street); if you catch a sale, you can do well. Sheffield furniture also has sales twice / year.

Room and Board doesn't have a store in the area, but they have great stuff. And delivery was pretty darn reasonable back when i ordered.

You may also want to try a Bloomingdales or Macy's when they are having a sale. They have suprising stuff sometimes.
