Howdy ~
I am a new member who just joined today. I discovered this site during the course of my research regarding a brand of soda pop called "Popeye Tropical Beverage" that was once popular in Philadelphia and produced by "The Porto Rico Pale Dry Company." The attached pictures tell my story best and hopefully will produce some results and/or clues. Note: I have been researching this topic for two years now, which included sending inquiries to several Philadelphia historians, all of which were supportive, but none of which had the answers to the following questions ...
1. When was the "Porto Rico Pale Dry Company" first established?
2. Does anyone have or ever seen a Popeye soda bottle with a paper label?
3. Has anyone ever seen a Philadelphia newspaper or magazine ad related to a Popeye soda pop?
Anything you can assist me with to confirm that a Popeye soda pop was in fact ever sold in the Philadelphia area would be very much appreciated. I am especially interested in finding a picture of one of the Popeye bottles with paper label intact, providing that such a critter even exist. I scrolled through every page of member CHIOSSO'S thread "A Bunch of Old Photos," and found several pictures showing store front displays for the Porto Rico Company itself, but nothing regarding Popeye.
Thank you in advance for your time and interest.

The pictures below are as follows ...
1. Original, vintage cork lined bottle cap. (Date unknown).
2. Original, vintage paper label. (Date unknown).
3. Cardboard "standee-type" store display sign. (Believed to be circa 1950s).
* I'll be back just as soon as I can figure out how to post attachments. I know it has something to do with the little box that says Insert Image, but when I click on it, it doesn't allow me to Browse and only shows the URL.
