This incident was revisited in 2010 when Mr. Vujnovich received the U.S. Bronze Star Medal. The headline for that event would have surprised me, as it did many. What WWII 500 airmen rescued? However, it was chronicalled in at least the (audio)book on the OSS which I had just finished.
