Default Philadelphia Defense Area Nike Bases

For those interested in the history of Philadelphia Defense Area Nike Bases, there are two new resources available online:

PH-15 Bristol (Newportville / Croydon) Nike Base - PH-15 Bristol (Newportville / Croydon)
PH-67 Village Green / Chester (Media) Nike Base - PH-67 Village Green (Chester/Media)

The websites are a growing wealth of info containing historical background of the bases, photos, newspaper articles, and first hand stories from the servicemen who manned the bases around the clock during the height of the Cold War. The websites are a constant work in progress with new content being added when it becomes available. If you've got anything to share, don't hesitate to send an email!

They're a little known element of local Cold War History that many pass by everyday without even knowing. There were others in the area, too... such as Paoli, Richboro, Warrington, Edgmont, and Worcester. PA... And there were some on the NJ side of Philly! Hopefully the bases and servicemen will get the recognition they deserve for keeping the Philly area safe!
