Building the Market/Frankford EL on Front st. ca.1916..first photo is Front st. looking south towards Brown st. Note the large warehouse that sits at Front and Brown where the tracks curve into, has not been built yet, also that there are two sets of freight rail track back then, today there are only remnants of the single set of freight rail track down the center. . This photo is front st looking north toward Laurel st and Germantown ave. CA.1916. and looking west onto laurel st. from Front st.ca.1915

Isn't that a Piedmont ad, not Redmont in the middle of the building? I see beech nut and Bond bread(?) also... love the old ads in some of these pics-it's like a game trying to spot em!

Yeah, you have to take some of the descriptions with a grain of salt.

Looking north on Delaware Ave. from the south side of Spring Garden st. ca.1929. I like that billboard advertizing the Our Gang Kids in person at the Earl Theater. And a south view of Delaware Ave. from the north side of Spring Garden st. ca,1929. And looking west onto Spring Garden st. from the east side of Delaware ave. ca.1929. And a east view from Spring Garden st. onto Delaware Ave and the river.

    Default Dime Museum 10-06-1928

The old Dime Museum, seen from accross the intersection at which it is located. The building is festooned with long strings of flags and naval pennants. The box office on the ground floor advertises "Emmett Welch Minstrels" in light-up letters.
"Dime Museum" to make way for modern building. The old theater building, at the northwest corner of 9th and Arch streets, was built fifty years ago. It has been the home of a freak show and various kinds of musical theater.
