Rich ladys in furs comming down to the slums. But truth be told the rich ladys did a lot of good in the days when the government didn't do much.

This image shows an African American woman sitting with a child on her lap. There are three caucasian women standing to the right of the woman and child. One woman has her hand extended to the African American woman. The others are holding books. Another African American woman is sitting on a stair behind them. There are two kittens on cardboard boxes which are near the woman and child. There is laundry hanging on clotheslines behind them. This photo demonstrates a PHA tour for Drexel University students.

There is a good chance the woman next to the Afro-American woman is an MSBT (Missionary Servant of the Most Blessed Trinity). The hat looks look part of their habit and the order ran a child welfare agency under the City of Philadelphia.

I suspect the woman didn't mind the white folk as much as the camera photographing her when she isn't in her best clothes.

This place was amazing - but the towers were weakened by the BSL directly underneath.

I tried to post an illustration of the interior - it was very beautiful. But I could never get the link to work. Now the windows are filled with cinderblock and I imagine the inside was wrecked as it was very highly ornamental a virtual copy of St Stephen's, Walbrook, London.
