Default 3800 Jasper Street – South of Buckius Street – looking north – 1907

The point where the photographer stood was approximately at 3800 Jasper Street, south of Buckius, looking north to Buckius. House in center next to tree still stands. Row houses to left torn down from the 30s to the 50s. Most of houses to the right still standing. To the right, the wooden back fence of the Isaac Schlichter Mansion, 3832 Frankford Ave, front side of property, torn down in the 20s or 30s. At the end of these pipes at the next intersection where Jasper street takes a slight turn right toward Frankford Ave. at Pike Street, will be the back football field of Northeast Catholic High School, now Whatchamacallit Charter School. I grew up on this street just beyond the tree.

Select and Common Councils of Philadelphia, which met in the State House from 1854 to 1895, were probably in session when this photograph was taken from a building standing opposite across Chestnut Street.
