Default B. Rayman Barber Shop and Candy Store. circa=1925 155 W.GIRARD

    B. Rayman Barber Shop and Candy Store. 'As per our conversation, enclosed is a copy of a picture of my grandparents' barber shop and candy store. This picture is at least 72 years old. My grandparents came from Russia. They went to New York and came to Philadelphia approximately 1919. They had 6 daughters and 1 son. The aunt pictured with my grandmom died before I was born (I, Walter Chezik, am 66 years young as of 1999). They lived to see 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. My grandparents lived to celebrate 72 years of marriage. Their names were Benjamin and Fanny Rayman.'

Default "All that's left of intersection"

"At the intersection of Camac and Porter Streets, thieves have carried away 30 feet of wooden paving blocks, which forces cars to drive on the pavement to get through. Most likely, the blocks were used in fireplaces and stoves of nearby homes." 9.23.1937, Philadelphia Evening Bulletin photo.

Depicts one way in which the utter devastation and disruption of the Depression impacted the urban environment of Philadelphia.

Overall, I am not a fan of this thread. But here is a photo with a story. Something that says, "look, think, reason, postulate,...". Not just look and say "oooh & aaah".
