Anybody read the Sunday Inquirer piece on George Washington?
It was in the Currents section of the 7-4-10 edition.
It is a rhetorically lame attempt to tie the nation's current problems to its lack of religious fervor. The thesis, in short, is that we ain't still got the religious fire that burned in Washington's breast, and we, therefore, have doomed the republic because we no longer hold to the ideals that helped form it.
In that context, it questions the constitutionality of national health care among other things.
I have no objection to a free-wheeling opinion section. Its point is to stimulate thought. The thought stimulated in me was not that I disagree with the message in this artilce, but that it was so badly argued. Makes me wonder if the paper is hard up for columnists.
