Default Is it bad that I don't wear makeup?

i'll be seventeen soon, and I really rarely wear makeup. Sometimes if i'm really feeling like looking halfway decent, i'll put some powder on my face, but I've always just sort of been against wearing it. I feel like it just makes me more of a fake person, like i'm trying to fool everyone. I may not be very pretty and if I had more time and energy for it I might wear it more often, but is it bad that I really don't wear it unless theres some sort of special occasion? Thanks for your opinion.

The makeup-free look has the same effect on girls that nerdy glasses have on boys: it's going to bring out either their attractiveness or their ugliness, whichever is greater.

Let's all make sure we understand you. Follow me here:

1.) YOU get "turned on" by women (or, in this case, teenaged girls) who do not wear makeup.
2.) The OP would be "doing the right thing" by not wearing makeup.
3.) The right thing for a 17-year-old to do is whatever arouses an anonymous creep on the internet?

What year do you live in?

Young lady, just make sure you shave your legs. When I see these woman with legs covered in hair my gag reflex kicks in. I must turn away before I puke on the sidewalk.

All you need is sun protection. sun screen and lip balm with an SPF. Trader Joes carries both, they're good an cheep. Go for the oil free if you have an acne issue. And no. You do not have to wear makeup.

But if you start to take care of your skin now at 17 people will WISH they had your skin when you're 60.

I consider hairy legs on women to be God's make up. Shaving it off is unnatural.

there is nothing wrong with not wearing makeup. i don't wear it every day. but the suggesting that wearing makeup makes someone a "fake person" is a bit insulting to those who do wear it. women who wear makeup are not fake.

There is no need to wear makeup if you don't want to. But as a 4-time skin cancer victim, I echo Gladys's suggestion to wear sun protectant. Also, start wearing some moisturizer now and you'll be happy later. I'm very fair and have sensitive skin and I've used both Clinique's and Mary Kay's tinted moisturizer with sunscreen for years. I highly recommend them. They have the added advantage of not feeling heavy or greasy.

It's a fact of life that attractive people are more successful. There is nothing wrong with not wearing makeup if you don't want to, but there is also nothing wrong with making sure you look your best.

    This.

At 17, if you are indeed 17 and not some silly troll or spambot, makeup isn't absolutely necessary, but decent skincare is. If you should choose to start wearing when you're an adult, that's perfectly within your prerogative to do so. Just learn how to do it correctly. No need to look like "Mimi" from the "Drew Carey Show".
