Any fellas want to give some feedback about this medication for hair loss? I've read some success stories but I don't know if those have just been written by the blokes who make this medication...pretty sure they're not running around these boards. I'm 23 and premature balding runs like wild fire in my family (on my mother's side, so you know I'm doomed). I understand there's side effects but I've read conflicting reports on how often / severely they express themselves.

So any fellas (or ladies) want to fill me in on your Propecia experiences?

I only have a second-hand story - my cousin's hairline was rapidly receding starting about mid-20s. He began to take Propecia and it stopped where it was and has since stayed there (he's 34 now). I wouldn't even call it a receding hairline anymore - it looks totally normal. I'm not sure if he had any side effects but can check if it'd be helpful.

It works but will knock down your sex drive and performance. It is cheaper to get it prescribed as Proscar, which is the original prostate drug. The clinical name of the drug is Finasteride. Propecia is dosed at 1 mg, while Proscar tablets come in 5mg, so I cut them in 1/4. At one point my coverage paid for them, but the drug companies caught on that men were using Proscar in place of Propecia. It's still cheaper to buy the Proscar tablets and cut them than to buy Propecia.I use it in conjunction with Rogaine.
