Default Easiest Way To get Antibiotics

So I have no doctor in the city and don't wanna go to some Kenzo doctor, but I've been sick for almost a week and my glands are gonna pop out of my face. I've heard there are nurses on location at pharmacies that can check you out a prescribe as necessary. Is there anything like that near center city or is that not a Philly thing?

go to a CVS minute clinic or a walgreen take care clinic.
I also think Drexel opened a drop-in clininc in Libery Two a little while ago.

Drexel has a walk in clinic at Liberty Place Convenient Care Center | Drexel Medicine

A few months ago I saw a nurse practioner there. I'm pretty sure she was able to write prescriptions. I went there because it was close by my office and I thought it would be quicker than making an appointment with my primary doctor. Unfortunately, my issue turned into something more serious. I wish I had gone to my primary doctor from the beginning. Nothing against the Drexel walk in, but since I have a primary doctor I should have gone there.

Hope you are feeling better soon!

The minute clinics are great. I highly recommend them for common ailments. Short waits. Friendly nurse practitioners. If you have a cold, or flu or rash: things you just need to get a common prescription for, they are right up your ally.

Only drawback is they may not be "in network" with some insurance plans. Even then though, I am ok paying the extra $20 co-pay to go there than to a doctor where I have to wait 2 hours to be seen.

For what it's worth, I find that it's a good idea to keep antibiotics on hand in the event of minor illness or infection. You can easily pick them up over-the-counter in most foreign countries if you travel or you can also order them online. Won't do you much good in this instance, but it's a helpful practice in general.

If you have a cold, please don't bug the doctor for an antibiotic prescription.

It's useless and helps make resistant bacteria.

As your friendly neighborhood pharmacist, this is a bad idea for the following reasons:

    1. I wouldn't trust with 100% certainty that what you're getting over-the-counter in foreign countries is exactly what you think or hope it is
    2. Some anti-biotics when expired are very dangerous (i.e. doxycyline and kidney failure)
    3. This only contributes to the growing problem of anti-biotic resistant strains of bacteria if you do not give yourself the correct anti-biotic for the specific infection you're suffering from.
