Default Philly #1 city...in teen sex, city gives out free condoms

Yet another socioeconomic indicator bringing Philly in the limelight of national news.

Just watched ABC World News broadcast this Sunday evening; one of the stories in focus was about teen age sexual activity, and Philly is #1 in this category ladies and gentlemen.

Philly also is #5 when it comes to AIDS/HIV among kids as young as 11.

Cities facing similar statistics? You guess it: Detroit. And Memphis. And Milwaukee. Not the likes of Boston, NYC, D.C.

So, what to do? Some blame it on poverty. The city isn't just sitting around, instead handing out condoms to middle schoolers. What say you, parents?

This is such horse****, to blame it on economics and poverty!

Frankly, you can go into any "nice", suburban, school district and find plenty of kids doing the same thing. Dear daughter and I had this discussion earlier today, and she knew of at least one couple having intercourse of some sort, while she was in 7th or 8th grade at her nice, Catholic, grade school. And while none of her coterie of close friends in high school was going the nasty, she knew of others that were. Keep in mind that this was a private, Catholic, girls' high school.

To think that someone with a parent with more than one child with more than one babydaddy is some good moral compass for certain students would be a fool's folly.

I say bring on the damned condoms and make sure they know how to use them.

And the more unwanted pregnancies and babies having babies they prevent, the better for all of us!

no kidding! That MTV program about teenage moms apparently is getting more teenage girls sexed up and pregnant, because they find it glamorous. How pathetic is that situation!

But condoms at such young age? I suppose that's the next shoe to drop, what with marketers targeting "tweeners" for all sorts of things, latest of all being push-up bras for 9 year old girls.

Must need another earthquake or revolution..cuz its a slow news week.

In two weeks they'll all be too busy with the "royal wedding" to care about this....

Which is why you ignore the MSM, and the Mainstream public, they have the minds of 3 year olds....

BTW, the city and every city in America gives out free condoms...Just that now we, like NYC have an official Philly condom...Which isn't tacky, like it could have been...

Urgent need for sex education in Philly schools | Philadelphia Public School Notebook

I had written a longer response but I think this will do better: Yes it's weird giving them to 11-year olds. No 11-year olds shouldn't be doing it. But if they are I sure as hell hope they're using condoms because we do not need any pregnant 11-year olds in this city. And no, I don't think there's any real "inducement to fornicate" caused by giving out condoms especially not if they come with good sex ed lessons.
