    Default Anti-snoring devices

Tried ZQuiet for the first time last night. I didn't snore, but it got very uncomfortable and woke me up at 4am. Had to spit it out after I couldn't get back to sleep.

I'm going to try it again with some Nyquil to ease the discomfort and make it harder for me to wake up.
I'm going to stick with it for a while since the instructions say it takes a while to get used to.

Anyone have any experience with this or other devices?

I've had experiences with elbows and pillows ..does that count?

Granted it was the consequence of one of my most bitchiest X's and an old roomate in college. I don't believe I snore as much (exercise helps!) since I haven't had too many complaints but it's all relative to who you're with and if they are light sleepers or just more tolerant...

Have you ever had a sleep study done? If you are having that much trouble with snoring, you may well have OSA...

    Just sayin'

Chances are if you DO, the doc/sleep tec can recommend a device that you can wear, if you have no interest in a CPAP device (or may be better suited to wear a oral device to keep the airway open). I believe they make devices that are fitted to your mouth personally.

please don't take nyquil for something like this. Nyquil contains acetaminophen, dextromethorphan and doxylamine. is it actually painful? if so, i'd go with some ibuprofen PM. If you are just looking for a sleep aid, stick with plain diphenhydramine (benedryl).

    acetaminophen is evil.

acetaminophen has a narrow therapeutic window. this means that the difference between a therapeutic dose and a toxic dose is rather small. since it is present in a lot of combination meds, it is easy for people to mistakingly take more than intended. for example, if someone has a headache and takes tylenol and then takes a cold medicine for a stuffy nose, it is very possible that cold medicine also contains acetaminophen. the drug is very hard on the liver due to a toxic metabolite. certain drugs and alcohol can increase the amount of this toxic metabolite that is formed.

that said, if someone is allergic to NSAIDS, acetaminophen is going to be their best choice for OTC pain relief.

Thanks. Good to be aware of its stress on the liver.
