Yoga for Runners and other Athletes
Wake Up Yoga is offering special yoga classes for runners and other athletes in 2011.
At Wake Up Yoga Fairmount, 2329 Parrish Street--
YogATHETES, Monday mornings, 6:30-7:45am
Contribution: $14 drop ins/$10 student rate.
Calling all runners, cyclists, swimmers, rowers, rock-climbers and athletes: 2011 is the year to start taking care of your body. YogATHLETES is devoted to helping athletes recover from the intensity of their sport. Yoga is a valid form of cross-training for injury prevention . The practice will improve circulation facilitating lactic acid removal. And best of all, yoga improves sleep quality , boosting the body's ability to repair muscle tissue and synthesize glycogen stores. In our community of athletes, you may even find a new running buddy or a bike partner!
No pre-registration or previous yoga experience required.

As runners, we are striving for efficiency. Tight muscles from pounding the pavement lead to imbalances in the body that cause excess effort and strain with each step! Restoring muscular balance through yoga practice improves stride length, heel strike, and efficiency in the kinetic chain.
